<p>TITLE: Special Needs Preschool Teacher</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education or related field.</p> <p>Valid Indiana Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement (e.g., Mild Intervention, Moderate Intervention) or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.</p> <p>Experience working with children with special needs in an educational setting is preferred.</p> <p>Strong understanding of developmental milestones and individualized education plans (IEPs).</p> <p>Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.</p> <p>Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.</p> <p>Proficiency in implementing differentiated instruction and behavior management strategies.</p> <p>Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues and families.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal / Assistant Principal/Director of Special Education</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To create and maintain a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of preschool children with special needs, fostering their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development while collaborating with families and staff.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Develops and implements individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.</p> </li><li> <p>Creates a warm, welcoming and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity and learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Plans and delivers developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that promote the cognitive, social, emotional and physical development of children with special needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with parents, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.) to ensure effective communication and support for each child's development.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors and assesses student progress toward IEP goals and adjusts instruction as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains accurate records of student performance, attendance, as well as behavior and provides regular updates to parents and guardians.</p> </li><li> <p>Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media; adapts teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of all learners.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stays updated on best practices in special education and early childhood development.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures a safe and inclusive classroom environment adhering to health and safety guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Engages in school-wide initiatives and activities, contributing to a positive school culture.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol>
