<p>Acting Middle School Assistant Principal JobID: 1193</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/Assistant Principal</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/28/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Somerville Middle School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>Immediate Availability</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>05/09/2025</p> <p>Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Educate, Inspire, and Thrive in Somerville Public Schools!</p> <p>Join the Somerville Team!</p> <p>Position: Acting Middle School Assistant Principal</p> <p>Available: Available Immediately through June 30, 2025</p> <p>Salary: TBD</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid New Jersey Principal's Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility. </li><li>Master's degree from an accredited college or university. </li><li>At least five years teaching experience. </li><li>Required criminal background history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. </li></ul> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Supports the Principal in establishing and maintaining the standards of pupil behavior as well as providing a suitable learning environment conducive to pupils' self-concept and positive attitudes toward learning. </li><li>Develops and implements procedures for reporting and other forms of communication to parents and guardians regarding the deportment of students. </li><li>Coordinates and supervises student arrival and dismissal procedures including students and staff monitors. </li><li>Assists in the scheduling process for all staff members. </li><li>Supports the Principal in developing positive working relationships with and among staff, and provides and sustains motivation. </li><li>Supervises extracurricular programs, assembly programs, and assignment of faculty members to assist at school functions. </li><li>Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment, conducts inventories, and maintains records for such material. </li><li>Coordinates facilities usage as related to the activities and functions of the school. </li><li>Supports the Principal with the development of activities to further the school's public relations efforts via school news, parent forums, and other pertinent programs and avenues of communication. </li><li>Prepares monthly discipline activity reports for the Principal. </li><li>Coordinates bi-monthly fire and quarterly lock down drills and submits updated safety reports to the Principal. </li><li>Serves as a school liaison person for school/community endeavors that are designed to broaden school-related student activities. </li><li>Serves as the building-based Co-Chairperson of the Intervention and Referral services and 504 Committee. </li><li>Supports the Principal in administering the school budget and directs the purchasing and distribution of general and grade level school supplies. </li><li>Supports the Principal in the monitoring of the building maintenance, custodial staff, cafeteria monitors, and other support services and makes recommendations regarding needs of the school as related to these areas. </li><li>Maintains records of all matters related to the above and meets periodically with the Principal and other pertinent staff to evaluate record-keeping processes. </li><li>Serves in the capacity of the Principal in the absence of the administrator from the school building. </li><li>Any staff member who has witnessed, or has reliable information that a student has been subjected to harassment, intimidation or bullying shall verbally report the matter to the Principal that same day.
