Join us in shaping futures, strengthening our region, and contributing to a mission-driven culture rooted in service and opportunity.</p> <p>The High School Equivalency Adjunct Instructor at Central Carolina Community College instructs students seeking a high school credential in adult basic education and high school level reading, math, social studies, science and writing courses in order to help prepare them to take High School Equivalency exams (GED or HiSET). Positions may be available in Lee, Chatham, and Harnett counties, as well as online.</p> <ul> <li>Please include unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Will be required to submit official copies of transcripts before start date. </li><li>This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required. </li><li>This position requires face to face teaching. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties</p> <p>Teaching Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Embrace the institutional goals of Central Carolina Community College by engaging students as full partners in the learning process, removing barriers to student progression in courses, and supporting and assisting students in achieving their educational and career goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Create course outlines and lesson plans according to Adult Education Content Standards and the unique needs of adult learners.</p> </li><li> <p>Include technology-specific instruction as well as contextualized lessons in planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Use student learning outcomes to create a variety of activities, assignments, and assessments that ensure curriculum goals will be met.</p> </li><li> <p>Create a dynamic instructional environment that promotes a positive, interactive, and inclusive learning experience for all students.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide personalized and constructive feedback on student assignments by recognizing what students did well and identifying attainable improvements for future work.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students with official testing logistics as well as plans for transitioning to college programming.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to all student communication within two business days.</p> </li><li> <p>Report attendance weekly.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively support the college's vision ofexceptional learning for all.</p> </li></ul> <p>Institutional Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Engage in professional development activities to expand expertise in adult basic education within College and Career Readiness.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings as requested.</p> </li><li> <p>Cultivate a culture of care and advocacy through compassion, inclusion, opportunity, integrity, courage, and people.</p> </li><li> <p>Recognizing and respecting the variety of experiences and contributions represented by all of our students, employees, and community, all faculty will encourage a learning environment in which everyone is supported and valued for their unique perspectives and experiences and will foster and promote the participation of all members of our diverse communities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>A Bachelor's Degree in English, social studies, science or mathematics, or a closely related area</p> </li><li> <p>Some teaching experience.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>NCCCS College and Career Readiness Core Credential</p> </li><li> <p>Experience teaching adult learners.</p> </li></ul>
