<p>Position Summary</p> <p>These positions are responsible for the annual establishment of equalized values for assigned taxation districts and improving the administration of the assessment and equalization process. Some duties include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist in analyzing statistical sales data and determining economic changes</p> </li><li> <p>Verify real estate sales by interviewing stakeholders</p> </li><li> <p>Appraise properties using sales, cost, and income information</p> </li><li> <p>Assist local units of governments, assessors, and taxpayers with inquiries</p> </li></ul> <p>To view the complete Equalization Bureau position descriptions, click the following links:</p> <p>Property Assessment Specialist | Property Assessment Specialist - Journey</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Pay will depend on experience and qualifications.</p> <p>The starting pay rate for the Property Assessment Specialist level is between $29.00 - $32.00 per hour, and is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 04.</p> <p>The starting pay rate for the Property Assessment Specialist - Journey level is between $32.50 - $35.18 per hour, and is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 03.</p> <p>Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Background Checks: Due to the nature of this position, final candidates will be subject to criminal background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks.</p> <p>I-9 Requirements: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of appointment. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.</p> <p>Probationary Period: A 12-month probationary period will be required.</p> <p>Remote Work/Telework: Remote/Telework is offered for two days per week at three months of employment, and three days per week at six months of employment, with a satisfactory performance evaluation. Remote work is intended to be performed primarily in the State of Wisconsin and is subject to change based on business needs.</p> <p>Work Schedule: The positions work Monday through Friday, daytime hours.</p> <p>Travel: The positions require occasional in-state travel with some overnight stays.</p> <p>Special Requirement: Must possess Wisconsin Assessor Certification at the Assessor II level at the time of appointment into the PAS-Journey level or attain within six months of initial appointment into the PAS (entry) level.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>The positions will be filled at the Property Assessment Specialist (PAS) or Property Assessment Specialist - Journey (PAS - JRNY) level determined by the entire selection process, including the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants at the Property Assessment Specialist level will have all the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Suite or equivalent (ex: MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc.); and</p> </li><li> <p>Experience using math skills (ex: general arithmetic, basic statistical formulas, area calculations); and</p> </li><li> <p>Experience applying general real estate principles (ex: property taxes, property valuation supply and demand, legal descriptions, and property rights)</p> </li></ul> <p>In addition to the minimum qualifications, well qualified applicants at the Property Assessment Specialist - Journey level will have all the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience inspecting properties and collecting data used in property appraisal</p> </li><li> <p>Experience conducting property assessments</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with real estate appraisal</p> </li><li> <p>WI Assessor Certification Assessor II level</p> </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>To be considered for this position, you must complete the online application.
