Join us on our journey towards sustainable growth, creating real impact on patients and society!</p> <p>For more information, visit us at https://www.ipsen.com/ and follow our latest news on LinkedIn and Instagram.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>WHAT - Summary & Purpose of the Position</p> <p>The primary responsibility of the Rare Disease Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is to act as a liaison with nationwide and regional thought leaders (TLs) to align interests, discuss research and medical information, and to facilitate both clinical trial efforts of Ipsen and Investigator-sponsored studies. The MSL position is a field-based member of the U.S. Medical Affairs team. This individual's clinical practice insights and basic science knowledge will be utilized to deliver non-promotional scientific, educational, and research concerning cutting edge data and technical/pragmatic education activities to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.</p> <p>This is a field-based position covering the Mid-West Territory (Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky) through a mix of live (primary) and virtual channels. Eligible candidates must reside near a major airport within the territory.</p> <p>WHAT - Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies</p> <p>Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Identify, gain access to, and develop peer to peer relationships with regional and national thought leaders, active and potential study investigators, providers at academic and non-academic institutions and professional organizations within assigned geography </li><li>Engage in ongoing scientific exchange about the science and clinical application of Rare Disease portfolio to external stakeholders, obtain and share insights about current practice, treatment landscapes, and emerging clinical and scientific data. </li><li>Proactively identify potential research sites and assist as needed in facilitation of company sponsored clinical trials. </li><li>Identify and assist, as needed, in initiation and closure of investigator-sponsored clinical trials (ISS). </li><li>Partner with Medical Affairs and Medical Information services to ensure accurate delivery of medical and scientific information, as needed. </li><li>Support the development of annual medical affairs plans in Rare Diseases, as appropriate, and in collaboration with the internal medical team. </li><li>Lead the development and implementation of a regional territory plan. </li><li>Contribute to the identification of unmet medical needs in Rare Diseases. </li><li>Develop and maintain scientific, clinical, and therapeutic expertise in Rare Diseases. </li><li>Provide appropriate scientific, clinical, and educational expertise for internal and external customers. </li><li>Identify opportunities and/or support medical publications as needed (abstracts, manuscripts, etc.). </li><li>Collaborate and participate in Speaker Training initiatives. </li><li>Contribute to the development and delivery of scientific training to commercial colleagues. </li><li>Lead/participate on special project teams as necessary. </li><li>Coordinate scientific activities with medical affairs, clinical development, and global franchise groups, as needed. </li><li>Represent the company at specific continuing medical educational events, programs, medical congresses, and scientific conventions. </li><li>Differentiate Ipsen as the valued scientific partner of choice through innovative initiatives, coordinated strategy, scientific communication, and patient centricity. </li><li>Ensure a close working relationship with all US cross-functional Rare Disease team members, including field-based counterparts and home office-based team members, legal, regulatory, market access individuals, medical/clinical operations. </li><li>Support cross-functional teams to ensure operations are patient-focused, including rapidly responding to internal and external requests to discuss specific situations and challenges and provide medical affairs support to all stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>HOW - Knowledge & Experience</p> <p>Knowledge & Experience (essential):</p> <ul> <li>3-5 years Rare Disease MSL work experience required. </li><li>Excellent planning, presentation, written and presentation communication skills. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain credible and scientific relationships with top experts in the field. </li><li>Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to function on a cross-functional team. </li><li>Demonstrated expertise in ability to synthesize and communicate medical information clearly. </li><li>Knowledge of PhRMA, OIG, and other guidelines relating to compliant medical communications. </li><li>Knowledge of rare disease/liver/gastroenterology customer segments and market dynamics </li><li>Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences. </li><li>Fundamental understanding of clinical research </li><li>Excellent project management ability </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment </li><li>Strong leadership capabilities </li><li>Excellent collaboration skills </li><li>Ability to travel (50-70%) based on size of geography </li></ul> <p>Knowledge & Experience (preferred):</p> <ul> <li>Experience in gastroenterology/hepatology, genetics and pediatrics preferred. </li><li>Previous experience with product launches and life cycle management preferred. </li></ul> <p>Education / Certifications (essential):</p> <ul> <li>Doctoral level in the sciences required (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, DPT, Nursing or equivalent) </li></ul> <p>Language(s) (essential):</p> <ul> <li>Fluent in English. </li></ul> <p>Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
