<p>The Woodlawn Campus of the University of Chicago Charter School (UCW) opened in September 2006. The middle school currently educates students in grades six through eight and assists students in the following:</p> <ul> <li>Developing the habits of mind, work, and heart to be successful in college and good citizens of their community </li><li>Contributing to the community through student research, service, and leadership </li><li>Improving teaching and learning by serving as a site of professional development for teachers and school leaders </li><li>Upholding the 4 core values of Scholarship, Leadership, Excellence and Grit </li></ul> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>This position will deliver ambitious computer science instruction that not only incorporates evidence-based analysis of practice in order to ensure that all students can achieve at high levels, but also provides a stimulating, challenging, and productive learning environment.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop curriculum for and teach computer science classes across divisions as required </li><li>Working collaboratively with classroom teachers and the other staff members of the middle school's STEM Department to develop and maintain a cohesive curriculum sequence from grades 6-8 </li><li>Passionate about the difference between mastery of devices and in-depth knowledge about computers and computing </li></ul> <p>Position Qualifications:</p> <p>Applicant should have a Bachelor's degree in education and appropriate state licensure, and at least 2 years of experience teaching computer science in a K-12 environment. The applicant should also have proven program planning and development experience and be an excellent teacher of students, reflective and receptive to professional feedback and coaching, and possess strong written and oral communication skills.</p> <p>Pay Range: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00</p> <p>The included pay rate or range represents the University of Chicago Charter School's good faith estimate of the possible compensation offer for this role at the time of posting. The salary will be commensurate of years of teaching experience and education.</p> <p>UChicago Charter School offers a wide range of benefits programs for eligible employees, including health, retirement, and paid time off.
