<p>Job Title HVAC Assistant Department Facilities - Maintenance Terms and Hours Varying hours Job Category Student Employment Hourly Wage Portland Metro Minimum Wage ($16.30) Job Summary</p> <p>This position is an exciting opportunity to assist HVAC/R staff, who are primarily responsible for performing general maintenance and repair of the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment within a variety of campus buildings. This position reports to the HVAC Supervisor and will assist them and the HVAC technicians. A valid driver's license and a driving record background check are required prior to being hired. Student employees must also successfully complete Campus Safety's online driver safety training before driving on campus for this position.</p> <p>The hours available to work are Monday through Friday, between 8:00am-4:30pm. We can be flexible with class scheduling, but require shifts of 3 hours minimum, and prefer 4.</p> <p>Core Duties</p> <ul> <li>Filter replacements and cleaning </li><li>Mechanical equipment repairs </li><li>Valve/ device installations </li><li>Cleaning of mechanical spaces & equipment </li><li>Ability to think through and solve problems in real-time </li><li>Assist with warehousing and inventory of parts </li><li>Driving to transport tools and supplies as needed </li><li>Other relevant duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must have a valid driver's license and have completed a driving records background check </li><li>Basic knowledge of how to work safely in various work environments </li><li>Ability to work on your feet and be mobile for extended periods of time </li><li>Ability to learn and abide by safety policies and procedures </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Mechanical aptitude and interest </li><li>Previous experience with minor mechanical and electrical repairs </li><li>Previous experience using basic hand tools and cordless drills </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Stand, walk, bend, twist, climb (including ladders), balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl </li><li>Work in confined spaces </li><li>Work in windy spaces </li><li>Use fingers and hands to handle, lift, use a cellphone, materials, tools, and equipment; reach with hands and/or arms </li><li>Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance and with or without the use of devices and/or equipment to assist in the lifting effort. </li><li>When lifting is required, employees are asked to use good judgment, make safety a top priority, and ask for assistance of others or of equipment as necessary.
