<p>Decontamination</p> <ul> <li>Identifies and uses appropriate methods and solutions to decontaminate instruments and clinical equipment. </li><li>Able to sort, disassemble, decontaminate, rinse and disinfect instruments and clinical equipment. </li><li>Understands and adheres to proper PPE attire. </li></ul> <p>Preparing Instruments</p> <ul> <li>Consistently uses count sheets to correctly assemble instrumentation. </li><li>Properly protect, wrap/containerize and or peel package and label instruments </li><li>Identifies and inspects for cleanliness and functionality of instrumentation. </li></ul> <p>Storage/Distribution</p> <ul> <li>Properly handles and stores sterile supplies, equipment and instruments. </li><li>Accesses Doctor preference cards. </li><li>Retrieves, disburses and tracks medical and surgical supplies and equipment to the customer in a quality and timely manner. </li></ul> <p>Sterilization Process</p> <ul> <li>Selects appropriate sterilization methods. </li><li>Understands and adheres to the correct practices of sterilization. </li><li>Properly documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological tests to determine the efficiency of the sterilization process. </li></ul> <p>Equipment</p> <ul> <li>Operates and understands the equipment specific to SPD: steam, ETO, Sterrad and Steris I sterilizers, cart washers, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners and heat sealers as well as a different array of testing devices. </li></ul> <p>Inventory Control</p> <ul> <li>Understands and implements the processes involved in ordering, receiving, stocking and monitoring usage of surgical supplies. </li><li>Communicates supply issues to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. </li></ul> <p>General</p> <ul> <li>Serves as a resource to customers on all SPD functions. </li><li>In conjunction with management tracks his/her progress in regards to training, staff meetings and in-service education. </li><li>Performs duties as a SPD Aide independently, works proficiently without direct supervision. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to stand "on call' </li><li>Maintains a clean and orderly work area. </li><li>Helps precept new employees (Grades 10, 11a, 12a) </li><li>Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers. </li><li>Perform other work-related duties as requested or assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Grade 8, Sterile Processing Aide</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read, write and communicate in English </li><li>High School Education or GED. </li><li>Basic Computer skills. </li><li>Good interpersonal skills, being concise by phone, intercom and in person. </li><li>Successful completion of Medical Terminology course OR successful passage of CCH Medical Terminology challenge exam. </li><li>Must have 1 of the following: </li></ul> <p>o Successful completion of Anatomy & Physiology course (High School level or higher)</p> <p>o Successful passage of CCH Anatomy Exam</p> <p>o SPD Technician Certification</p> <p>o 3 years recent (within the past 5 years) SPD experience</p> <ul> <li>Must take the SPD Technician Certification exam within 12 months of hire. </li><li>Must successfully pass the SPD Technician Certification exam within eighteen (18) months of hire and must maintain certification. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Grade 10, Sterile Processing Technician I</p> <p>Must qualify as a Grade 8 - Sterile Processing Aide. In addition,</p> <ul> <li>1 year experience as a SPD aide </li><li>SPD Technician Certification </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Grade 11a, Sterile Processing Technician II</p> <p>Must qualify as a Grade 10 - Sterile Processing Technician I. In addition,</p> <ul> <li>1 Year experience as a SPD Technician </li><li>Surgical Instrument Processor Certification </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Grade 12a, Sterile Processing Technician III</p> <p>Must qualify as a Grade 11a - Sterile Processing Technician II. In addition,</p> <ul> <li>Surgical Instrument Processor Certification and/or Ambulatory Surgery Technician Certification </li></ul>
