<p>Position Title: Assistant Director for Student Civic Leadership.</p> <p>Department: Institute for Freedom and Community.</p> <p>Classification: Exempt.</p> <p>FTE: 0.83.</p> <p>Work Schedule: This position will be full time (8 am-5 pm) during the academic year (September-May); one day a week may be worked remotely. Summer hours will be approximately 20 hours/week in June and August with July off.</p> <p>Work Location: On Campus.</p> <p>Salary Range: $47,000 - $53,000.</p> <p>Open Until Filled</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>The Assistant Director for Student Civic Leadership will be responsible for facilitating co-curricular civic and community engagement opportunities for students and strengthening local community-engaged partnerships. This role will manage the community-based work study program, a cohort of 50+ students who are paid to assist local nonprofits and schools with their work and mission; assist student service organizations in developing their community engagement efforts, including recruiting students, partnership management, and leadership transitions; and oversee other co-curricular student civic leadership programs.</p> <p>For both these programs, the Assistant Director will develop training and support services for these student civic leaders that develop knowledge, skills, and mindsets for responsible and ethical engagement. This role will also work closely with other offices on campus, such as the Office of Student Activities and the Piper Center for Vocation and Career, to collaborate on student civic leadership development opportunities.</p> <p>Essential Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Manage the college's community-based work study program</p> </li><li> <p>Posting, recruiting, hiring, and mentoring a cohort of ~50-60 students a year in conjunction with our community partners</p> </li><li> <p>Conducting annual site visits to each community partner site</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitating professional development and reflection opportunities for the CBWS cohort in partnership with other offices on campus, like the Piper Center</p> </li><li> <p>Tracking budget and federally mandated paperwork for the CBWS program</p> </li><li> <p>Approving timecards every two weeks for the entire cohort</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinating transportation to sites</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with guidelines for federal work study</p> </li><li> <p>Advise executive teams of the college's 20+ student service organizations to ensure responsible and ethical engagement practices and standards</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitating annual orientation to exec leaders</p> </li><li> <p>Assisting with partnership management</p> </li><li> <p>Building ongoing professional development opportunities for exec leaders</p> </li><li> <p>Coaching exec leaders in volunteer recruitment and recruitment, policy adherence, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide training and support to college-wide co-curricular service efforts such as the "Service Saturday" New Student Orientation event and Residence Life's "Neighbors with Neighbors" program</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates and executes two campus-wide civic and community engagement events annually to raise visibility of community engaged efforts and facilitate new pathways to involvement</p> </li><li> <p>Designs and implements new civic leadership cohort-based programs that attend to student development and community opportunities, including a "civic leadership badge/credential"</p> </li><li> <p>Work with other offices on campus, like the Office of Student Activities, Piper Center, and Athletics on social impact, community engagement, and service</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with the Director of Civic and Community Engagement on community partnerships, storytelling and marketing efforts, and assessment and evaluation efforts</p> </li><li> <p>Serves on college committees and teams as applicable to role</p> </li></ul> <p>Supervision Received and Exercised:</p> <ul> <li>Reports to the Morrison Family Director of the Institute for Freedom and Community. </li><li>This position supervises students. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education:</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's Degree.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience:</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum 2 years' experience working with and supporting young adults or community or civic engagement within higher education or a community-based nonprofit.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to positive social impact and active collaboration with multiple stakeholders.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in organizing multiple projects while adhering to deadlines, budget, legal, and ethical requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication skills that convey information to multiple internal and external audiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid driver's license and the ability to drive a college fleet vehicle by passing a motor vehicle background check and completing online training.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in Google Workspace and budget management.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience: </li><li>Creating and delivering effective training, mentorship, and supervision of students. </li><li>Knowledge of community and civic engagement, student development, student mentorship, and/or experiential learning theory and practices. </li><li>Partnership development, volunteer management, and/or community organizing experience. </li></ul> <p>Transferable Skills:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Written and oral communication</p> </li><li> <p>Intercultural knowledge and competency skills</p> </li><li> <p>Partnership development</p> </li><li> <p>Training and facilitation</p> </li></ul> <p>Prerequisites:</p> <ul> <li>Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
