Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Salary Range</p> <p>$112,500.00 - $198,225.00</p> <p>Overview Yale Schwarzman Center is committed to driving positive social change through collaboration, wellness, and belonging peopled by individuals who share and support this mission, and who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. The first-ever center for University life and the arts at Yale University, the Schwarzman Center opened officially on November 5, 2022 and is designed to bring together students and faculty from all of Yale's schools and colleges - a university-wide educational, social, dining, and cultural hub that engages with audiences local to global with state-of-the-art technology. Located at the heart of campus, Yale Schwarzman Center houses 5+ multi-purpose venues including Commons - a popular dining hall by day and performing arts and events space by night. Yale Schwarzman Center collaborates and shares spaces with its building partners Yale Hospitality and the Good Life Center, and is host to a high volume of university events in addition to high-level arts programming and occasional external rentals. As a member of Yale Schwarzman Center's senior leadership team, the Deputy Director will bring demonstrable experience in managing people, teams and operations effectively. The Deputy Director will be involved in long-term planning and strategy and will be expected to collaborate closely and meaningfully with the Executive Director, Associate Artistic Director, Director of Marketing & Communications, and Director of Finance & Administration. The direct reports for this position include the Director of Production, Building Operations Manager, and Exhibitions and Bookings Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Center, which include the management and oversight of HR & general administration, budget, production, facilities, and security. The Deputy Director works closely with the Executive Director to implement the Center's strategic plan (February 2024) and meet the plan's stated objectives, and with internal and external constituencies, including the Schwarzman Center's Advisory Board and Program Committee. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Demonstrated program management expertise, with the ability to oversee a project or program from development to completion with limited supervision. Ability in program assessment and strategic planning. 2. Well-developed organizational, management and supervisory skills. Ability to prioritize work and juggle multiple tasks for effective interaction with internal and external constituents. 3. Must be able to work nights and weekends. 4. Must have the ability to be on campus with very short notice as needed.</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Provide strong organizational leadership, in partnership with the Executive Director and Program Committee, to drive strategic planning efforts and set the overall vision and direction for the Schwarzman Center. 2. Maintain oversight of operations and budget to ensure prudent fiscal management. 3. Implement strategic and financial plans, in collaboration with the Executive Director and other members of the management team, focused on achieving the Schwarzman Center goals, and ensure programs and resources are aligned. 4. Provide creative and innovative leadership for the continued enhancement of Schwarzman Center's programmatic, educational, and community development activities consistent with its mission. 5. Create an overall fundraising strategy, in collaboration with Yale's development team and the Executive Director, to establish annual and long-range goals to meet the institutional objectives. 6. Establish and implement operating budgets that will allow for the artistic and financial success of the Schwarzman Center, with ongoing reporting of the results to the Program Committee. 7. Oversee the development and effective implementation of marketing and communications campaigns with the goal of increasing audiences and earned revenue. 8. Develop and oversee production and technical systems to manage both small-scale and large-scale theatrical and artistic productions, including load-out, load-in, set building, etc. 9. Develop and oversee operational systems, such as ticketing, room reservations, scheduling, and operating hours, in support of the Schwarzman Center's programming. 10. Develop and maintain business policies and procedures that ensure the efficient and professional operation of the Schwarzman Center as well as collaborate with Yale University officials to ensure smooth interface with facilities, food service, campus security, student clubs and all relevant academic departments. 11. Enhance the Schwarzman Center's visibility by building strong relationships with cultural and civic organizations, government officials and community leaders, including participation in high-profile community activities, speaking engagements and social events. 12. Direct a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 13. May perform other duties as assigned.
