Cayuga Health's commitment to our employees includes competitive compensation, comprehensive employee benefits programs, and the opportunity to explore and build a career in healthcare through our many professional development programs.</p> <p>The role of the Nurse Manager of Endoscopy is to provide leadership, guidance, supervision and support to the team providing gastrointestinal endoscopy services for the Cayuga Health System. Direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles as needed. Manager will participate in and oversee the team that schedules and prepares patients for procedures in close collaboration with the anesthesia and physician care team. Supervision may be exercised over RN's, LPN's, Endoscopy Technicians, and unit Patient Care Assistants. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of the Nurse Manager include (but are not limited to the following):</p> <p>Roles and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Nurse Manager role is a patient/client advocate responsible for assisting patients/families navigate the complex health care system in an organized, effective and efficient manner. </li><li>Facilitates efficient operations by providing direction, guidance, mentorship and counseling to staff. Solicits input from physicians and staff </li><li>Assist with the standardization and efficiency of care for patients in the assigned service line/unit throughout the continuum of patient care. </li><li>Ensures quality care, productivity, functional excellence and efficiency while assisting leadership in accomplishing strategic and operational objectives. </li><li>Models patient-centered care and assumes leadership responsibilities with high level contributions in direct patient interaction, the unit, the service line, and across the organization. </li><li>This position assists management with the coordination of program education and assists with the overall growth of the service line program. </li><li>Leads unit and shared governance activities, assessing service line/unit-based needs related to practice and improvement opportunities, and serving as a clinical resource for both service line program and hospital staff as well as evaluation of direct costs and patient outcomes. </li><li>Manages day to day operations in assigned area. </li><li>Solicits and acts on input from providers and staff. </li><li>Responsible for assuring customer/patient service needs are met. Monitors patient service feedback and works with providers and Director in resolution of complaints and service issues. </li><li>Knowledge and ability to apply proper handling of supplies and equipment necessary for all endoscopic procedures. </li><li>Ability to perform Manometry, Capsule Endoscopy, and input/retrieve data from operating systems. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills and Experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Previous Endoscopy experience in required. 1-3 years leadership experience required. Strong verbal and written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Current NYS Registered Nursing license</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Current BLS. ACLS certification must be obtained prior to completion of the introductory period. </li><li>Certification for Gastroenterology Nursing preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Able to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring patients may involve lifting of up to 50 or more pounds. Good dexterity and ability to stand in place for extended periods of time.
