<p>Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and motivated mechanical design engineer in the Autopilot and Electronics Product Design team to work on audio system across various Tesla vehicles. The engineer will lead the mechanical design of different audio components including various speakers and microphones to develop immersive listening experience and studio grade sound quality in Tesla vehicles.</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with audio engineers on audio system architecture and develop implementations </li><li>Optimize the audio components in the vehicle while considering performance, design, integration, size, mass, assembly and more </li><li>Participate in prototype builds, component fabrication, testing and validation efforts. Provide hands-on support </li><li>Modeling and design of mechanical components and assemblies including plastic, sheet metal, die cast etc. </li><li>Conduct mechanical design analysis including structural, tolerance, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and design for assembly </li><li>Generate detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation of mechanical designs using CATIA </li><li>Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to take designs from prototype through production and deployment </li><li>Support development of engineering and reliability test plans, test data analysis, and troubleshooting of design issues </li><li>Communicate with suppliers regarding DFM (Design for Manufacturing) feedback and support tooling and assembly bring up </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience </li><li>Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design </li><li>Experience in the development of acoustic components / modules </li><li>Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA preferred) for 3D modeling and drafting </li><li>Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes </li><li>Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS preferred) </li><li>Experience taking designs from initial concept through to mass production </li><li>Basic understanding of electrical and thermal design fundamentals </li><li>Familiarity with PCBAs and electronics packaging </li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform first principles analysis to ensure a successful design (physics, stress-strain, thermal, tolerance, cost and mass optimization, etc.) </li></ul>
