<p>The Health Aide will work to provide support, assessment, intervention, referral and follow-up of those health conditions which interfere with students' attainment of optimal academic potential and well as being a resource for staff regarding personal and student health issues.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct hearing, vision, and blood pressure screenings, and make referrals as appropriate </li><li>Refer students in need of medical and dental care to the proper local agency </li><li>Maintain up to date health records for students </li><li>Day to day support for medically fragile students (tube feed, medication monitoring, toileting, positioning/transitioning) </li><li>Assume responsibility for injured or ill students </li><li>Act as health consultant for teachers, students, curriculum, school, health and community agencies </li><li>Act as liaison between the district and the medical community </li><li>Authorize exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases </li><li>Dispense medication or delegate according to Ohio Revised Code with appropriate training, demonstrations, supervision and evaluation </li><li>Provide individual and group health counseling to students and parents </li><li>Coordinate dental health program and referral to appropriate agency </li><li>Coordinate and conduct adolescent development </li><li>Assist in disease control programs by enforcing local and state immunization laws, screening for lice and other communicable diseases </li><li>Assist with individual health care plans for students with special health care needs, and in-service staff as needed </li><li>Monitor school environment for safety, in conjunction with the Health and Safety Team </li><li>Observe ethics of the nursing profession; exhibit professional behavior,emotional stability and sound judgement and maintain confidentiality </li><li>Report all cases of child abuse and neglect to the proper authorities </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g. medical records, prescription medicine, IEP's </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>State of Ohio Board of Nursing License (LPN), if applicable. </li><li>Pupil Services license issued by the Ohio Department of Education or Educational Aide Permit (with ESEA Endorsement) </li><li>BCI and FBI background check </li></ul> <p>Compensation: Based on licensure.</p>
