<p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>Organization's Summary Statement:</p> <p>The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. The selected candidate will report directly to the Program Director and will collaborate closely with PA faculty and staff to support the program's mission and ensure ongoing compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards. UMES is committed to providing time, support, and resources for the professional growth and development of its faculty. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.</p> <p>Salary: $118,000 - $134,000</p> <p>Benefits: The University of Maryland Eastern Shore, as a University System of Maryland institution and a Maryland State agency, provides a comprehensive benefits package to all regular faculty and staff. </li></ul> <p>Maryland wellness programs.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Teaching</p> <ul> <li>Teach assigned didactic and/or clinical courses within the PA curriculum </li></ul> <p>as designated by the Program Director or Director of Didactic Education.</p> <ul> <li>Develop and revise course content, including syllabi, lecture materials (e.g., </li></ul> <p>PowerPoint presentations), and examination questions.</p> <ul> <li>Participate in the continuous evaluation and improvement of course </li></ul> <p>delivery, instructional effectiveness, and student learning outcomes.</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and assess student performance in classroom, laboratory, and </li></ul> <p>clinical settings.</p> <ul> <li>Engage in student advising, mentorship, and academic remediation as </li></ul> <p>needed.</p> <ul> <li>Contribute to the development and maintenance of competency-based </li></ul> <p>assessments and instructional materials aligned with program goals and</p> <p>national standards.</p> <ul> <li>Participate in peer review of faculty teaching and provide constructive </li></ul> <p>feedback to support instructional excellence.</p> <ul> <li>Conduct site visits for students on clinical rotations to evaluate </li></ul> <p>performance, ensure quality of the clinical learning environment and</p> <p>maintain preceptor relationships.</p> <ul> <li>Grade student assignments, exams, and other assessments in a timely and </li></ul> <p>constructive manner, providing meaningful feedback to support learning</p> <p>and growth.</p> <p>Service</p> <ul> <li>Serve on the PA Program Admissions Committee, including reviewing </li></ul> <p>applications, interviewing prospective students and participating in</p> <p>admissions decision-making.</p> <ul> <li>Engage in departmental, school, and university-level committee work and </li></ul> <p>service activities.</p> <ul> <li>Participate in community outreach and service initiatives aligned with the </li></ul> <p>mission of the program and university.</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the coordination, execution, and documentation of regular </li></ul> <p>programmatic self- assessments, including semester reviews and the</p> <p>annual department retreat.</p> <ul> <li>Contribute to the development, evaluation, and revision of the program's </li></ul> <p>mission, goals, objectives, and learning outcomes.</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate in interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives with other health </li></ul> <p>professions programs to promote team-based care and interdisciplinary</p> <p>learning experiences.</p> <p>Scholarship/Research</p> <ul> <li>Engage in scholarly activities, including research, grant writing, quality </li></ul> <p>improvement initiatives, curriculum innovation, or educational scholarship.</p> <ul> <li>Present scholarly work at local, regional, national, or international </li></ul> <p>conferences.</p> <ul> <li>Publish in peer-reviewed journals or other academic outlets. </li><li>Maintain professional licensure and national certification as appropriate to </li></ul> <p>area of expertise.</p> <ul> <li>Support student research initiatives and serve as a mentor for student </li></ul> <p>scholarly projects.</p> <p>Other</p> <ul> <li>Participate in accreditation and compliance-related activities, including the </li></ul> <p>collection and analysis of data aligned with ARC-PA Standards.</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director that support the </li></ul> <p>success of the PA Program and School of Pharmacy and Health</p> <p>Professions.</p> <ul> <li>Assist in reviewing and updating the Student Handbook on an annual basis. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited program. </li><li>Current NCCPA certification. </li><li>Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience. </li><li>Current license or eligibility for licensing as a physician assistant in the </li></ul> <p>State of Maryland.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Physician with the following:</p> <ul> <li>A board-certified Doctor of Medicine/Osteopathy with a full unrestricted </li></ul> <p>MD license or eligibility to obtain such a licensure in the State of Maryland.</p> <p>OR</p> <p>Non-clinician Scientist or Health Professional with the following:</p> <ul> <li>Doctoral degree in a health or science related field </li></ul> <p>Preferences:</p> <ul> <li>Physician Assistant candidates </li><li>A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in higher education setting. </li><li>A minimum of 2 years clinical experience. </li><li>Past clinical instruction experiences within a PA Program. </li><li>Demonstrated history of scholarship and grant submission. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Candidates should possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal </li></ul> <p>communication skills.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work effectively as a team member. </li><li>Ability to comply with accreditation
