<p>Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning #31683 JobID: 31683</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/Assistant Superintendent</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>5/29/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Christina Administration Office</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>06/08/2025</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Christina School District  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>POSITION: Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Superintendent</p> <p>SUPERVISES: District Office Teaching and Learning Staff</p> <p>District Operations Administrators and Staff</p> <p>PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Identifying, developing and implementing instructional and/or operational policy, programming and decision making for schools and identified district departments.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification as Assistant Superintendent </li><li>Successful completion of the Praxis II School Superintendent Assessment and related coursework (as required for certification) </li><li>Master's Degree in Education Leadership, Administration or related field (as required by certification) </li><li>Minimum of five years of experience in education with at least three years of administrative experience required </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of managing or supporting instructional programming, curriculum development or district-wide initiatives </li><li>Knowledge and experience in program development and evaluation </li><li>Demonstrated success working in diverse educational settings </li><li>Experience in strategic planning, equity initiatives and data-driven decision making </li><li>Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction, assessment systems and school improvement strategies </li><li>Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to build and engage with diverse stakeholders </li><li>Excellent communication skills; both orally and written </li><li>Knowledge of school law, finance, operations and human resources preferably in public education </li><li>Experience supervising and evaluating administrators and/or large instructional teams </li><li>Building level administrative experience preferred </li><li>District office administrative experience preferred </li><li>Experience with restructuring of schools preferred </li></ul> <p>Salary: Salary Schedule can be found on the district's website: https://www.christinak12.org/cms/lib/DE50000539/Centricity/Domain/130/FY2025%20Admin%20Steps%20Ranges-1.pdf</p> <p>Fringe Benefits: Twenty-four (24) days vacation per fiscal year; Life Insurance; Health Insurance; Benefit Stipend to assist with the cost of prescription, vision and/or dental insurance.</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Applicants must submit a letter of interest, resume, three current (dated within one year) letters of recommendation (one letter must be from current supervisor), and license/certification. In order to be considered for this position, you must apply specifically for the Job ID listed for this position.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum, instruction and assessment team/programs </li><li>Oversee development, implementation and evaluation of operations within the district </li><li>Develop district goals and objectives for curriculum, instruction and operations </li><li>Provide support and coordination for all curricular areas and departments who oversee operations e.g. Facilities, Child Nutrition Services and Transportation </li><li>Develop strategies to support schools with increasing and expanding the number of students who access rigorous and challenging curricula </li><li>Work with the Superintendent and their Cabinet to define performance expectations and evaluating the performance of directors and principals </li><li>Directly supervise the Directors of Teaching and Learning and/or supervisors of operations; coordinate and assist directors with leading all departments under their purview </li><li>Coordinate the activities of school and district staff in leading and supporting instructional programs leading to the improvement of student outcomes </li><li>Develop instructional and operational regulations and guidelines, which support the improvement of instruction, service to students and student outcomes </li><li>Oversee and coordinate fiscal priorities for directors, schools, operations, Teaching and Learning department </li><li>Oversee the identification, development and coordination of professional development in collaboration with curriculum staff and operations team </li><li>Serve as a key translator and interpreter of instructional programs and student outcomes to all stakeholders </li><li>Serve as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet, helping to establish instructional, operational and financial priorities for the district </li><li>Develop and continuously improve the measurement and evaluation of student performance, District programs and schools, making regular and timely reports to the Superintendent </li><li>Support, monitor, and evaluate school improvement and/or school leadership priority plans in coordination with directors, school leadership teams and the Superintendent </li><li>Work collaboratively with the Delaware Department of Education on initiatives, mandates and program evaluation </li><li>Oversee and coordinate the enhancement of CTE programs, increasing awareness and access to career opportunities for all students </li><li>Coordinate and assist director with implementation of Wilmington Learning Collaborative MOU and our relationship with the council </li><li>Coordinate and ensure equity and access for students with disabilities and Multilingual Learners </li><li>Develop strategies to support student discipline reporting, implementation of Student Manual and all matters relating to Student Services </li><li>Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by Superintendent </li></ul> <p>The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
