<p>Organization Details Organization Information The Caverna Independent District is a small rural district in south central Kentucky. It is unique in that it transcends two counties: Barren and Hart. It serves primarily two communities. The community of Cave City in Barren County and Horse Cave in Hart County. The livelihood of the communities centers around agriculture and tourism related to Mammoth Cave National Park. The district in 1957, became the first school in the state of Kentucky to integrate. Caverna Independent Schools also had the first African American teacher in the state to teach in mixed classes.
