<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Special Education Teacher (Job ID 1119)</p> <p>Immediate Opening</p> <p>Full Time/Academic Calendar 185-205 days</p> <p>TRB Eligible</p> <p>BEAM Elementary School, Danbury, CT</p> <p>EdAdvance offers positions that provide freedom from many of the other time constraints and obstacles that can detract from the teaching profession. Our schools are very well staffed with experienced administrative, related services, mental health, and behavioral professionals. In addition, our enrollment processes allow us to align the needs of our students to our specific programs, staffing levels, and resources, creating low student-teacher ratios and small caseload sizes. In short, our teachers spend more time doing what they know and love, teaching!</p> <p>Major Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide academic instruction and support for students who are enrolled in an outplacement educational program, serving students with social-emotional difficulties and communication and behavior challenges </li><li>Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage and motivate students </li><li>Utilize restorative practices to help students regulate their behavior, develop perspective-taking, and take personal responsibility for their actions </li><li>Other duties as may be assigned </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Special Education procedures and regulations </li><li>Recent teaching experience in a school setting, preferred </li><li>Desire to work with students who struggle with regulating behavior and social emotional responses </li><li>Familiarity in using CT-SEDS </li><li>Experience in writing IEP goals, completing achievement evaluations and interpreting the results to propose services and instructional needs </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Demonstrate flexibility in response to unpredictability of student academic and behavioral needs </li></ul> <p>Qualifications/Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Active Connecticut Certification in Special Education (Endorsement #: 065, 165 or 265) </li><li>Master's Degree in Special Education preferred </li><li>Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and therapeutic holding as required </li><li>Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this job </li></ul> <p>Application Procedure:</p> <p>Applications should be submitted for consideration by visiting EdAdvance's employment page at, http://edadvance.org/about-us/employment, and click on the APPLY button next to the job posting of interest.</p> <p>Human Resources</p> <p>EdAdvance</p> <p>P.O.
