In addition, responsible for sample preparation, test, and analysis of ceramic or other related materials.</p> <p>Roles & Responsibilities:</p> <p>The R&D Technician I manages the intake, tracking, storage, and disposal of all laboratory test specimens and materials in accordance with internal procedures, ISO 17025 requirements, and ITAR regulations. This role ensures complete chain-of-custody, proper labeling, and secure handling of materials throughout their lifecycle. When sample volume is low, the R&D Technician I will assist with general laboratory testing and operational support as needed.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Sample Management</p> </li><li> <p>Receive, log, label, and store incoming samples per lab protocols and ITAR requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate chain-of-custody records and ensure traceability in LIMS or manual logs.</p> </li><li> <p>Organize and monitor sample storage; coordinate timely disposal in line with retention policies and regulatory requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Compliance & Documentation</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to ISO 17025 and ITAR regulations throughout sample handling.</p> </li><li> <p>Support internal and external audits by providing complete, accurate records.</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to updates and improvements of sample handling SOPs.</p> </li><li> <p>Cross-Functional Support</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with basic lab testing, equipment prep, or general lab tasks during downtime.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate with lab staff to prioritize sample flow and address submission discrepancies.</p> </li><li> <p>Communication</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as the customer facing contact for sample logistics.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain clear communication across teams to ensure sample continuity and controlled access to restricted materials.</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years related work experience or a Bachelor's degree. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience in a laboratory environment preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with computer hardware, peripherals, and troubleshooting software applications preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Intermediate math and writing skills required.</p> </li><li> <p>Strives to understand ceramic science principles for materials related to assigned projects and contributes appropriate observations.</p> </li><li> <p>Accurately uses custom computer system, department-specific software, and manufacturer-specific analytical testing software in performance of job duties.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Exhibits the communication skills necessary to effectively work within a team environment and to communicate with customers.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be organized, detail oriented, and self-driven.</p> </li></ul> <p>Position Specific Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times in work areas.</p> </li><li> <p>May be required to handle hazardous chemicals such as acids and solvents.</p> </li><li> <p>May be required to wear a respirator (a medical evaluation will be required prior to fitting).</p> </li><li> <p>May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.</p> </li></ul> <p>Target Hiring Range</p> <p>Hourly: USD 20.37 - USD 24.66</p> <p>Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
