No VP Area U of U Health - Academics Department 00952 - Division of Epidemiology Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range 25,000 to 37,500 Close Date 04/10/2026 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <p>The goal of the Research Associate is to carry out first-rate research while promoting and facilitating collaborative studies in epidemiology, outcomes research, and biomedical informatics among researchers within the University of Utah and its affiliates. The successful candidate will design and develop major research activities such as defining requirements, designing studies, and setting up new methods to accomplish scientific objectives.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Direct collaborative projects within the University of Utah and other centers and partner institutions. </li><li>Lead research activities and collaborate with investigators throughout entire research process, from grant applications to design through results interpretation and manuscript preparation. </li><li>Oversee the delivery of data management and clinical research informatics services. </li><li>Coordinate, integrate and utilize applications and databases. </li><li>Interface with programmers, informaticians, epidemiologists and clinician investigators within the group to support research and operational projects. </li><li>Identify and implement creative solutions to overcome problems. </li><li>Organize, interpret data and derive study conclusions. </li><li>Other research and operational functions as requested. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>PharmD or MS or PhD in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or related discipline. </li><li>Ability to independently conduct research activities with mentoring from a faculty member. </li><li>Proficient in multiple technologies (computer languages, databases, workflow, standards). </li><li>Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferences</p> <ul> <li>Experience in managing biomedical or health informatics projects. </li><li>Experience in data retrieval, cleaning, validation using SQL. </li><li>Experience in quantitative and methodological analysis - preferably in electronic health record data (or similar). </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead a research and development team. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions Summary Additional Information</p> <p>The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems ("URS").
