We are looking for a dedicated professional committed to fostering a positive and competitive athletic environment, developing student-athletes both on and off the sidelines, and working collaboratively to prepare athletes for the winter competition season.</p> <p>MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Program Leadership: Oversee all levels of the Fall Cheerleading program, fostering a positive, inclusive, and academically successful team culture.</p> </li><li> <p>Coaching & Instruction: Plan and conduct effective practices, focusing on skill development, proper stunting techniques, choreography, safety progressions, and physical conditioning.</p> </li><li> <p>Performance Management: Manage performances and school spirit leadership at fall athletic events and pep rallies.</p> </li><li> <p>Winter Transition Preparation: Coordinate and implement preparatory training to ready athletes for the upcoming winter competition season, collaborating with the Winter Cheerleading Head Coach as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Player Development: Mentor student-athletes, monitor academic progress, assist with college recruitment, and support holistic student growth.</p> </li><li> <p>Administrative Oversight: Manage uniforms, equipment, budget, travel coordination, and maintain accurate program records.</p> </li><li> <p>Compliance: Ensure adherence to all school, district, and athletic association rules and regulations</p> </li><li> <p>Community Engagement: Communicate effectively with stakeholders and participate in fundraising efforts.</p> </li><li> <p>Feeder Program Development: Build strong relationships with youth organizations to support long-term program growth.</p> </li><li> <p>Off-Season Training: Work with the Winter Cheerleading Head Coach to implement comprehensive off-season strength, conditioning, and skill development programs.</p> </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>CT Certification 600: Interscholastic/Intramural Coach or eligibility for certification required </li><li>First Aid/CPR Certification </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals, stunting safety progressions, and crowd leadership strategies. </li><li>Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. </li><li>Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes. </li><li>Commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development. </li><li>Ability to pass a comprehensive background check. </li></ul> <p>RATE OF PAY: $2,567 for the 2026-2027 School Year (* season runs August November)</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE:</p> <p>EXTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please submit your application through our website: www.putnamschoolsct.org</p> <p>INTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please submit a letter of interest to Heather Taylor, Principal and Joseph Pishka, Athletic Director</p> <p>APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: Open until filled</p> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p>
