time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Identify ECE-12th grade students in need of gifted and talented services according to state and district guidelines. </li><li>Develop and implement appropriate and meaningful gifted education services in the school community that provide academic and affective (social/emotional) support for gifted students. </li><li>Develop and monitor Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs) to provide academic and affective (social/emotional) support for identified gifted students. </li><li>Consult with classroom teachers and provide gifted education-related staff development targeted around school needs based on student, family and staff feedback. </li><li>Provide staff development on strategies and appropriate materials to differentiate the curriculum and challenge gifted learners. </li><li>Participate and support in the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process as it relates to the support of gifted and advanced students. </li><li>Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement. </li><li>Monitor, supervise, and enforce rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students; reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy. </li><li>Observe, evaluate, report, and record student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health and prepare student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators. </li><li>Establish and communicate to students clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects; Provide advanced instruction to students individually and in groups (caseload and FTE permitting), using various teaching methods and technology and adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style. </li><li>Prepare, administer, and provide reports to families and teachers regarding student performance on whole grade universal screening assessments and individual assessments related to gifted identification; Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavioral and academic problems and to coordinate instructional efforts, especially in regard to twice exceptional students. </li><li>Follow Exceptional Children's Education Act (ECEA) rules and district guidance for identification of gifted and talented students and maintain accurate records of students in need of service. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required </li><li>Master's Degree in Gifted and Talented Education preferred </li><li>Must hold a valid Current Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teacher license with the correct endorsement (May work off of a CDE license application receipt for 90 days). </li><li>Must have one of the following (or be on track to finish within two years of hire): Gifted Education Core, Specialist or Director endorsement, Master's degree in Gifted and Talented Education from a regionally accredited college or university OR complete the 3 district Gifted & Talented PDUs for GT Certification (Can be completed after hire). </li><li>Experience with the Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) process and knowledge of Colorado's Exceptional Children's Education Act (ECEA) rules and regulations. </li><li>Effective time management and organizational skills. </li><li>Effective verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Strong attention to detail. </li><li>Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines. </li><li>Ability to manage the classroom and coordinate and instruct student activities. </li><li>Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. </li><li>Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides. </li><li>Bilingual in Spanish or another language preferred and may be required for some positions. </li><li>Experience specific to high school or early childhood education may be required for some positions. </li><li>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. </li><li>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us. </li><li>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position. </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
