<p>Job Title Disability Resources Student Leader - Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Department Disability Resources Office Job Description/Duties</p> <p>Students are invited to apply for a leadership position in SUNY Cortland's Disability Resources Office. In this role, you will help make our campus more inclusive and accessible for all students!</p> <p>This position is a great opportunity to develop important leadership skills, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. If you have a disability or identify with the disabled community, this role can also support you in exploring and strengthening your disability identity in a supportive environment.</p> <p>All student leaders will take part in some shared activities to support Disability Resources' goals. Beyond that, you will have the chance to choose projects based on your own interests and strengths, allowing you to make meaningful contributions in ways that matter most to you.</p> <p>As a Student Leader, you can expect to:</p> <ul> <li>Support and promote the mission of the Disability Resources Office. </li><li>Attend regular meetings for discussions, team-building, and event planning. </li><li>Represent Disability Resources at Open Houses by engaging with prospective students and their families. </li><li>Participate in workshops on disability topics offered by the Multicultural Life and Diversity Office, including the Rethinking Abilities program. </li><li>Attend the annual Student Empowerment Day in Albany each spring. </li><li>Serve as a member of the Disability Resources Advisory Committee to provide feedback on office initiatives. </li><li>Attend any programs sponsored by Disability Resources, such as social gatherings, panels, or similar events. </li><li>Inform classmates that you are an ambassador and a resource for any questions about the Disability Resources Office. </li></ul> <p>Projects</p> <p>Student leaders will also work on more in-depth projects, either individually or in partnership with other leaders. You will collaborate with Disability Resources staff to choose a project that matches your interests, skills, and career goals. Staff will provide close guidance and support throughout your work.</p> <p>Some examples could include:</p> <ul> <li>Partner with other offices on campus (Admissions, Advisement, Rec Sports, Campus Activities, etc.) to promote accessibility and support of students with disabilities. </li><li>Helping conduct an awareness campaign (social media, posters, events, etc.) to improve the campus disability climate. </li><li>Designing and distributing promotional materials for Disability Resources programs and activities. </li><li>Partner with off campus community organizations that promote disability advocacy and inclusion </li><li>Organizing a large-scale event that highlights the perspectives and experiences of students with disabilities. </li><li>Or bring your own ideas, how would you like to make SUNY Cortland more inclusive? </li></ul> <p>Days/Hours Needed</p> <p>2 to 5 hours per week</p> <p>Days and time will vary from week to week depending on projects/events</p> <p>Campus Location/Bldg.</p> <p>Memorial Library, B-121</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Must be a current SUNY Cortland student.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Interested in disability advocacy and inclusion</p> <p>Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility Contact Name(s) & Email(s)</p> <p>If you have questions about the position or need accommodations for any part of the application or interview process, please contact Gwen Cotten at gwen.cotten@cortland.edu.
