Be the difference.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Assists in providing a safe and secure environment for team members, physicians, patients, and visitors by providing a visible deterrence to crime and responding to calls of assistance.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li> <p>All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Be the difference.</p> </li><li> <p>Patrols assigned areas of the hospital's main campus and associated properties.</p> </li><li> <p>Investigates security incidents and violations and pursues the appropriate course of action.</p> </li><li> <p>Interviews victims and witnesses to obtain information regarding violations, accidents, and security-related incidents.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares reports of security-related incidents.</p> </li><li> <p>Issues parking citations and provides traffic control when necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>On an assigned shift, operates patrol vehicle or specialized security equipment or walks to observe for suspicious activities or persons.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists law enforcement agencies at their request while on hospital property.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in annual in-service training and other training programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides security escorts to visitors and staff members.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Supervisory/Management Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education - High school diploma, GED or equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience - No experience required. Two (2) years of security experience with at least One (1) year experience in hospital setting preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>In Lieu Of</p> <ul> <li>NA </li></ul> <p>Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must possess a valid driver's license; an acceptable motor vehicle record, as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart.</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass State required armed guard training, law enforcement bonding, law enforcement background check, law enforcement psychological evaluation, law enforcement weapons qualifications, annual law enforcement in-service training and other qualifications for licensing such as baton, chemical, handcuff, taser, IAHSS Basic, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Full-time sworn peace officers are exempt from the licensing requirement per TCA 62-35-103 as well as Private Protective Services Rule 0780-05-02-03.</p> </li><li> <p>Certification as an armed security officer preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Baton, Cuff, and Taser certification preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must understand hospital security responsibilities and operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Must know the importance of punctuality, dependability, professional appearance, willingness to assist others, and adapt to change in responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to identify security risks and take proper actions without direct supervision.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be skilled in report writing, proper response, customer service, and emergency protocols.</p> </li><li> <p>Able to protect themselves and others during altercations and calmly handle odd and sporadic incidents without hesitation.</p> </li><li> <p>Able to remain calm under stressful situations.
