<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by overseeing for all in-house and contracted services associated with heating, heating controls, ventilating, air-conditioning, refrigeration systems, humidification system, electrical & fire alarm systems and associated mechanical systems for all campus buildings approximately 1.6 million square feet of facilities. Oversees the MEP Supervisor, Heating Plant Supervisor, and Building Control Specialist.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Manages relevant renewal, replacement, and repair projects. </li><li>Maintains preventative maintenance programs for building equipment with focus on system optimization, energy efficiency, and reliability. </li><li>Manages work orders and backlog; prioritizes and assigns work, checks work in progress; coordinates work with other trades and supervisors. </li><li>Manages technical contracted service projects and preventative maintenance services for HVAC equipment, steam distribution, and building automation. </li><li>Collaborates with Energy & Technology Manager to ensure effective operation of building and equipment operations. </li><li>Develops and implements building energy use optimization in alignment with Energy 2028 energy conservation initiative. </li><li>Procures equipment and supplies; recommends staffing needs, schedules staff, and coordinates contracted services as required. </li><li>Engages in design development and planning for building renovations or new construction. </li><li>Ensures safety procedures are followed, including lockout / tag-out, confined space and PPE for in-house personnel and contracted services. </li><li>Complies with related Federal, State and local codes. </li></ul> <p>Other Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assesses the performance of direct reports and provides frequent feedback to optimize their performance. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information. </li><li>Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner. </li><li>Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned. </li><li>Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software. </li><li>Speaks, reads, and writes in English. </li><li>Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device. </li><li>Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with electrical knowledge. </li><li>10 years of progressively complex experience in HVAC trade. </li><li>Experience with operation, maintenance and design of building mechanical and HVAC systems required. </li><li>Broad-based and developed management experience, with a demonstrated record in directing service and operations. </li><li>Extensive knowledge of methods, equipment, and personnel management is required. </li><li>Must be familiar with computer-automated systems and record management. </li><li>EPA refrigerant technician certifications preferred. </li><li>Extensive practical and hands-on trouble-shooting experience with HVAC equipment including chillers, air handlers, cooling tower, steam distribution, chemical treatment, and operating tasks to ensure effective operation of campus HVAC systems. </li><li>Sound knowledge and experience with electric, electronic, computer-based, and pneumatic control systems. </li><li>Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook) </li><li>Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 50 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus </li><li>Work some evening or weekend hours </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Indoor work at a computer workstation and outdoor work in all weather conditions. </li><li>Medium level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Norwich University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to providing a positive education and work environment that recognizes and respects the dignity of all students, faculty and staff.
