<p>Description</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>The Behavioral Health Medical Assistant will focus on providing essential support to clients in the outpatient behavioral health program. The individual in this role will work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary, integrated healthcare team to help implement individualized treatment plans, promote mental health education, and ensure high-quality client care. The Behavioral Health Medical Assistant role is crucial in supporting the well-being and recovery of clients in the behavioral health program, where compassionate care, clinical skills, and attention to detail play a significant role in providing quality healthcare services.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Client Care:</p> <ul> <li>Monitor and record the vital signs, symptoms, and behaviors of clients. </li><li>Administer medications as directed by healthcare providers. </li><li>Help clients with mobility and transfers as needed. </li><li>Provide emotional support and a compassionate presence to clients. </li></ul> <p>Clinical Support:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies. </li><li>Assist healthcare providers during psychiatric assessments and treatments. </li><li>Perform basic clinical procedures, such as EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection. </li><li>Coordinate client appointments and follow-up care. </li></ul> <p>Documentation:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each client. </li><li>Document client interactions, treatments provided, and any observed changes in condition. </li><li>Ensure compliance with client privacy and confidentiality regulations. </li></ul> <p>Communication:</p> <ul> <li>Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members. </li><li>Relay important information to healthcare providers regarding client progress and concerns. </li><li>Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive, well-coordinated care for clients. </li></ul> <p>Safety and Compliance:</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures. </li><li>Follow established procedures and policies to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff. </li><li>Stay updated on integrated behavioral health care best practices and applicable regulations. </li></ul> <p>Professional Development:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in training programs and continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge. </li><li>Pursue certification and licensure requirements as applicable. </li></ul> <p>Adheres to and follows all other required duties necessary and assigned by direct supervisor.</p> <p>CARE & TCI</p> <p>One of the essential job functions of any position within the agency is to align your performance with our overarching philosophy of CARE. All decisions, actions, communication, and performance should align with the six CARE principles (Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Ecologically Oriented, Competence Centered, and Trauma Informed). Not only must you complete the CARE training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work.</p> <p>Every employee must also pass TCI training with a satisfactory grade in written and/or physical testing. All employees must remain current on refresher training that is provided monthly at all locations. You will be tested every 6 months on the physical portion, if applicable to your position. You will be tested annually on the written portion regardless of your position. If you are not current on your TCI refresher training every six months, you will be required to retake the full course. If you do not pass either test, you may be required to retake the full course. Not only must you complete the TCI training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work.</p> <p>EQUIPMENT USED</p> <p>Computer, Copy Machine, Calculator, Smart Phone, Fax Machine and Telephone</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <p>Frequency Options: Occasional: 0 - 15% of the time; Frequent: 16 - 50% of time; Constant: Over 51% of time</p> <p>Occasional - Exposure to noise, Exposure to heights, Exposure to temperature above 80 degrees, Exposure to chemicals, Exposure to hazards, Exposure to dust, Carrying approximately 10 feet, Pushing approximately 5 pounds, Lifting approximately 5 pounds, Climbing approximately 15 - 20 steps, Bending, Squatting, Kneeling and Physical Restraints.</p> <p>Frequent - Walking approximately 100 feet and Standing</p> <p>Constant - Working alone or independently</p> <p>Requirements</p> <p>SKILLS and ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Strong organizational and time management skills. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills. </li><li>Ability to develop and maintain relationships with community providers in the assigned service area. </li><li>Interpersonal skills to work with staff of all departments, leadership and community organizations </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program, certificate or Diploma required. </li><li>Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric or mental health settings preferred. </li><li>Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapeutic techniques. </li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. </li><li>Commitment to person-centered, integrated health care and continuous improvement. </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 21 years of age </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license </li><li>Must possess and maintain proof of vehicle insurance </li></ul>
