The University offers both the civic and church communities of the Pacific region its academic and intellectual resources in the pursuit of common aims.</p> <ul> <li>Position Information </li></ul> <p>Title: Assistant Director of Student Engagement</p> <p>Division: Student Affairs</p> <p>Department: Office of Student Engagement</p> <p>Exempt full time, 11-month position</p> <p>Night/weekend hours expected</p> <ul> <li>Position Summary </li></ul> <p>Under the direction of the Director of Student Engagement, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement is responsible for supporting the programs and initiatives of the Office of Student Engagement, including coordinating the recreational sports/intramural program and serving as the primary point-of-contact for the use of the university vans.</p> <ul> <li>Reports to </li></ul> <p>Direct Report to: Director of Student Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Essential Duties and Responsibilities </li></ul> <p>Operations (25%)</p> <ul> <li>Assist with recruitment, selection, training and evaluation of student employees. </li><li>Oversee office operations including front desk coverage, equipment rentals, maintenance requests, locker check-out, and room reservations. </li><li>Maintain the office events calendar and communicate engagement opportunities appropriately to campus and community partners. </li><li>Manage department social media platforms and routinely monitor office email. </li><li>Administer the reservation process for the Vii and Paul Loo Student Center and the Zuberano Lawn. </li><li>Coordinate the use of university vans, including facilitating the driver certification process. </li><li>Maintain contact with security department and facilities with any issues regarding van drivers of van maintenance. </li></ul> <p>Student Engagement Programs (25%)</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate and implement wellness opportunities for the campus community. </li><li>Empower and oversee student staff's efforts to execute large and small scale program planning. Encourage Marianist mission in efforts. </li><li>Aid in large scale event planning and logistics for events sponsored or co-sponsored by the office. </li><li>Coordinate all intramural activities both on and off campus. </li><li>Recruit participants, manage reservations, and market all intramural sport opportunities. </li><li>Coordinate recreational activities for the entire campus. </li><li>Engage campus community with fitness classes, demos, workshops, etc. </li><li>Provide recreational activities and experiences off campus, such as hikes, aquatic activities, etc. </li><li>Oversight of all recreation equipment rentals and returns. </li></ul> <p>Advising Student Organizations (10%)</p> <ul> <li>Provide general advisement and support to all student organization leaders and advisors. </li><li>Research, develop, and execute training and development opportunities for student organization officers and advisors. </li><li>Serve as co-advisor to Chaminade Student Government Association (CGSA) </li></ul> <p>Administrative Duties (20%)</p> <ul> <li>Assist Director with budget projections, strategic planning, student learning outcomes, and unit reviews. </li><li>Advise and mentor student workers including providing opportunities for professional development. </li><li>Serve on university wide committees and aid in collaborative partnerships with on and off campus partners. </li><li>Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Engagement. </li><li>Disclaimer </li></ul> <p>This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive. The percentages regarding the essential and non-essential functions of the job are not precise and are only an approximation, which can vary on a day-to-day basis and are subject to change on an as-needed basis and/or in the sole discretion of supervisory management.</p> <ul> <li>Education and Experience </li></ul> <p>Education: Bachelor's Degree required in related field (Education, Psychology, or Counseling Preferred) from an accredited university. Master's degree preferred.</p> <p>Minimum Experience and Skills: At least one year of experience working with college students. Ability to provide leadership in areas related to student development. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with students. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications. Must have an appreciation work working with a diverse population.</p> <ul> <li>Physical Requirements </li></ul> <p>Duties involve light work in an office and community setting and requires a minimum of physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines and declines. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, traverse the campus with ease, climb stairs, and have excellent motor skills and must be able to sit or stand for thirty (30) minutes at a time. Must have finger dexterity. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.</p> <ul> <li>Other Requirements </li><li>This is a full time, exempt position. Forty hours per week (M-F) will be the general rule. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands of the department, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be occasionally required. Must be willing and able to work occasional nights and weekends and have a varying schedule when required. </li><li>Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required. </li><li>Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University. Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner. </li><li>The employee is expected to adhere to all University policies while employed.
