<p>Department:</p> <p>PMG Parrish Medical Group</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Titus Landing</p> <p>Schedule:</p> <p>Full Time; 8:00a - 5:00p</p> <p>General Description:</p> <p>The Certified Professional Midwife is responsible for promoting and demonstrating Parrish Healthcare's Culture of Choice ; and is an Allied Health Professional member of Parrish Medical Center's Medical Staff. The Certified Professional Midwife is responsible for ensuring strategic goals and objectives are met or exceeded by providing leadership, direction, and oversight to effectively fulfill our mission to provide Healing Experiences for Everyone all the Time and achieve organizational strategic (Game Plan) goals.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Monitoring the health of pregnant women and their unborn babies. Support physiology and promote normal birth. </li><li>Educating patients as well as their partners and family members on reproductive health, preparation for parenthood, and antenatal care. Uphold human rights and informed consent and decision making for women. </li><li>Confirming and dating pregnancy. Providing prenatal and postpartum care. Caring for women during childbirth including monitoring the mother and fetus during labor, assessing labor progress, managing complications, assisting with pain management, performing episiotomies if needed, and delivering the newborn and placenta. </li><li>Promote evidence-based practice, including reducing unnecessary interventions. </li><li>Teach patients pain management techniques to prepare them for labor. </li><li>Delivering patients' babies in birthing centers, patients' homes, or hospitals as well as providing emotional support and encouragement during labor. </li><li>Taking and recording patients' blood pressure, temperature, and pulse as well as ordering diagnostic tests as needed. </li><li>Monitor maternal and neonatal outcomes, report quality indicators and participate in performance improvement initiatives. </li><li>Will respond to and partake in activating emergency protocols and coordinate transfers to high-level of care when necessary. </li><li>Help with community outreach, patient education programs and participating in prenatal classes. </li><li>Be competent and proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EHRs) and telehealth platforms. </li><li>Assess, diagnose, act, intervene, consult and refer as necessary, including providing emergency interventions. </li><li>Helping patients and their partners to cope with miscarriages, stillbirths, neonatal deaths, and terminations. </li><li>Teaching new mothers how to feed their newborns. </li><li>Providing sound advice to patients regarding diets, exercises, and medications suitable for pregnancy. </li><li>Required to maintain certification, licensure and keep up to date on continuing education. </li><li>Will partake in the call rotation as first of call, backup support provided by physicians. </li><li>Follow rules and regulations within the collaborative agreements with physicians, to include compliance and regulations in Midwifery for the State of Florida, </li><li>Be sensitive to culturally diverse population in the healthcare system. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li><li>Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Formal Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in midwifery required. Masters (MSN) or Doctorate in Nursing (DNP) preferred. </li></ul> <p>Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Two or more years of clinical experience as a certified professional midwife at a physician practice or in a hospital with a related specialty is strongly preferred. </li></ul> <p>Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:</p> <ul> <li>Certified by either the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) or North American Registry of Midwives (NARM). </li><li>Appropriate state licensure required. </li><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) through The American Heart Association required. </li><li>Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required. </li></ul> <p>Why Work for Parrish?
