<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Middle School of Plainville Physical Education & Health Education Instructor</p> <p>The Plainville Community Schools has an opening for a Physical Education / Health Teacher at the Middle School of Plainville who will work under the direction of the School Principal/Instructional Leader. On a daily basis the teacher will plan for & deliver physical education activities & instruction, assess student progress and growth, provide ongoing student supervision, regularly share written and verbal feedback with students and families, maintain records of student performance, and continually seek to develop professionally to bring the most current and innovative learning practices to students. Salary range can be found in the Teacher's Union Contract found on our website at www.plainvilleschools.org.</p> <p>This position will have the responsibility of providing health education instruction as well.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, create and deliver daily lesson plans emphasizing sports-related skills, movement patterns, games and fitness activities </li><li>Establish and enforce student rules of conduct focused on the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of students </li><li>Introduce elements of strength, endurance and flexibility into physical education teaching and activities; </li><li>Provide instruction using a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and varying needs/interests </li><li>Prepare equipment and materials for physical education activities </li><li>Manage student behavior and employ positive behavior practices to drive culture/climate </li><li>Ensure individual well-being and safety is incorporated into teaching and activities </li><li>Foster positive student attitudes toward physical activity and fitness </li><li>Support student physical fitness assessments at the school, state and national levels, as requested </li><li>Responsibly fulfill additional duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Current Connecticut Teacher Elementary Certification - (044, Physical Education, Pre-K to 12) AND (043, Health, Pre-K to 12) </li><li>Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to work cooperatively with other Health/PE teachers </li><li>Ability to handle and treat information confidentially </li><li>Ability to relate effectively with staff, parents, students and the public </li><li>Ability to motivate students, inspire trust and confidence in students, while working with patience and understanding </li></ul> <p>Application Procedure:</p> <p>Complete our online application accessed through www.plainvilleschools.org and attach cover letter, resume, 3 letters of recommendation, transcripts, certification (or proof of eligibility).
