<p>Posting Number: 20254346S Position Title: Assistant OR Associate Director for Partnerships and Programming Position Type: Staff Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/12-months Avg Hours Week Department: 005-Office of Mission and Ministry Position Summary:</p> <p>The Center for Peace and Justice Education is an academic unit in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences as well as a center of the Office for Mission and Ministry. The Center offers a major and minor, supports several related student organizations, and sponsors various lectures and events throughout the year. The Center explicitly carries out the Catholic and Augustinian mission of the University by contributing to the search for peace and social justice through education rooted in the Catholic Social Tradition.</p> <p>The Assistant/Associate Director for Partnerships and Programming will build and maintain the Center's relationships with on- and off-campus partners as well as current students and alumni. The Assistant/Associate Director will support the Center's mission by co-creating high quality signature events and programming for both the Villanova campus and the broader community of alumni, neighbors, practitioners, and scholars. The Assistant/Associate Director will work to create opportunities for engagement between current Peace and Justice majors and minors, Center alumni, and the wider community, with a particular focus on supporting the career development and networking of current students. A successful candidate will combine knowledge and appreciation for peace and justice concerns with the logistical and administrative skills to manage large-scale events and initiatives.</p> <p>The Office for Mission and Ministry (OMM) promotes and supports the Augustinian Catholic mission of the University with particular attention to the Augustinian charism and spirituality, with a concern for building community that is inclusive, respects and celebrates diversity, and fosters an atmosphere that demonstrates care for our common home. These core values are integral to Villanova's Augustinian Catholic mission and OMM's stewardship of the mission. <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>CPJE Partnerships</p> <p>Build and maintain relationships with various on- and off-campus partners to ensure CPJE is informed, responsive, and collaborative.</p> <ul> <li>Support collaborative programming and initiatives with offices such as: Office of Belonging and Inclusion (OBI), Center for Dialogue, Office of Service Learning, Falvey Library, Augustine and Culture Seminar Program, and the Ethics Program </li><li>Provide Peace and Justice expertise and resources to University faculty members, departments, and committees </li><li>Chair the MLK Commemoration Committee and serve on other University-wide programming committees (e.g., Black History Month, Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month, etc.) </li><li>Foster collaborative CPJE engagement with University student organizations and the Centers and Offices of Mission and Ministry </li><li>Engage local peace and justice organizations and practitioners through participation in membership, meetings, events, and programs </li><li>Envision opportunities for Villanova to contribute to local and national conversations about peace and justice, including through the Peace and Justice Studies Association </li></ul> <p>Center Signature Programming</p> <p>In collaboration with Center staff and campus partners, coordinate the Center's signature events throughout the year, including:</p> <ul> <li>The Adela Dwyer-St. Thomas of Villanova Peace Award </li><li>Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Keynote Lecture </li><li>Freedom School </li><li>Oscar Romero Solidarity Lecture </li><li>Senior Gathering </li><li>Work with various on- and off-campus partners in conceptualization, development, and promotion of signature events and associated programming </li><li>Ensure programming deepens the learning and understanding of critical peace and justice issues for attendees at all levels: students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members </li><li>Maintain related budgets and facilitate associated financial activities </li><li>Oversee design and production of flyers, posters, and other event marketing to on and off campus attendees </li><li>Work with Dining Services, Facilities, and Procurement to ensure high quality, engaging events </li><li>Arrange for logistics and publicity for speakers and panelists </li><li>Serve as Center liaison to the Event Coordinators Network on campus </li></ul> <p>Alumni Engagement</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work to engage current students and Center Alumni with one another and within their professional and personal journeys</p> </li><li> <p>Provide career development opportunities for current students</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as liaison to University Career Center</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with annual Exit Survey of graduating seniors</p> </li><li> <p>Help supervise students in the PJ internship-for-credit</p> </li><li> <p>Lead Center alumni engagement efforts</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate annual Student-Alumni Dinner</p> </li><li> <p>Foster mentorship opportunities for alumni and students</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with alumni newsletter</p> </li></ul> <p>CPJE Team Member</p> <ul> <li>Attend and participate in CPJE core team meetings and activities </li><li>Attend and participate in Office of Mission and Ministry trainings, meetings, and activities </li><li>Serve on relevant CPJE and/or OMM committees </li><li>Assist with various CPJE programming needs and initiatives </li><li>Meet with CPJE Director on a regular basis </li></ul> <p>Other Duties</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Candidates for the rank of Assistant Director will be based on:</p> <ul> <li>Formal Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Work Experience: At least 2 years of experience developing professional and/or institutional partnerships </li></ul> <p>Candidates for the rank of Associate Director will meet requirements for Assistant Director Level and have the following:</p> <ul> <li>Formal Education: Minimum Master's degree </li><li>Work Experience: </li><li>Demonstrated previous experience in developing professional and/or institutional partnerships. </li><li>At least 6 years of experience in fields related to peace and justice. </li></ul> <p>Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)</p> <ul> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication </li><li>Skills in working in collaborative environment </li><li>Strong organizational skills </li><li>Skills in event planning and management </li><li>Cultural competency and the ability to relate to and work with diverse members of the campus community and beyond </li></ul> <p>Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)</p> <ul> <li>A general understanding of contemporary peace and justice issues </li><li>An understanding of the Catholic social tradition </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>Experience in higher education preferred </li></ul> <p>Specific Job Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>An understanding of the mission of Catholic higher education in the Augustinian tradition </li></ul> <p>Equipment Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Competency with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Teams and Forms and comfort in working with social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook is preferred.
