<p>Description</p> <p>We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trades Worker to join our team. This position involves performing advanced technical work to repair and maintain wastewater system components, including but not limited to: gravity sewer piping, sewer force mains, manholes, valves, pumping stations, and electrical control panels. As a Trades Worker, you will demonstrate proficiency in a specialized trade and may take on leadership roles within your crew.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Troubleshoot electrical panels using multimeters, amp probes, and megohm meters. </li><li>Set up and operate mobile equipment, such as generators, vacuum trucks, pumper trucks, and small tools. </li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions at sewer pump stations. </li><li>Maintain and repair sewer valves, pumps, and piping systems. </li><li>Perform maintenance tasks at pump station sites, including mowing, weed eating, painting, and landscaping. </li></ul> <p>Education, Experience, Licensing</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or GED equivalent. </li><li>Six months of experience in public utilities (water, sewer, natural gas, plumbing, electrical, irrigation, or telecommunications installation) or closely related fields. </li></ul> <p>Licensing:</p> <ul> <li>A valid Class E driver's license with an acceptable driving record. </li><li>A valid Florida Class A Commercial Learner's Permit with Tanker endorsement is required prior to the job offer. </li><li>Must obtain a Florida Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire. The Utilities Department will assist with obtaining the CDL by providing training and covering all associated costs. </li></ul> <p>Safety and Testing:</p> <ul> <li>This is a Safety-Sensitive position, and you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing as outlined by DOT regulations (49 CFR Parts 40 and 382). </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <ul> <li>Capability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work in small spaces, as well as bend, stoop, and squat in various environments and extreme temperatures. </li><li>Ability to work independently, make decisions, and handle responsibilities with minimal supervision. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. </li><li>On-call rotation for emergency situations, including nights, weekends, and holidays. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>You will be expected to work from blueprints and sketches, operate small machinery and hand tools, and effectively communicate with supervisors, team members, and the public. </li></ul> <p>To learn more about Lee County Utilities, check out the short video below:</p>
