Build your future with Fiore!</p> <p>The Demolition Superintendent is a key leader within Fiore & Sons, responsible for overseeing and executing complex demolition projects from planning through completion. This role directs all on-site operations, including crews, equipment, subcontractors, permitting, and daily field activities, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project goals.</p> <p>The Demolition Superintendent is accountable for driving project performance across safety, quality, schedule, and profitability while navigating the unique challenges of demolition work such as sequencing, structural considerations, environmental controls, and coordination with adjacent operations. This leader also plays a critical role in developing field personnel, fostering a strong safety culture, and building high-performing teams that deliver consistent, successful outcomes.</p> <p>TOTAL COMPENSATION</p> <p>$108,000.00 to $193,500.00 annually</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>*</p> <ul> <li> <p>Obtain and implement deep working knowledge of assigned projects, including specifications, scope requirements, and contingencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Organize and schedule personnel and equipment allocation for multiple crews and sites.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform construction activities including, but not limited to, preparation (including calling for locates), operation and closing of job site, and proper testing and QC of work completed.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.</p> </li><li> <p>Proactively address, problem-solve, and resolve potential project issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget, and in accordance with specification, including intended design, quality, and safety standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards and specification, utilizing soft leadership skills to navigate needed changes or potential problems with those in charge of the day-to-day operations of the project.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that each subcontractor complies with project specifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure crew and subcontractor clean-up occurs on a daily and weekly basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage risks on the job site, including complying with all regulations and company guidelines around Safety, HR, Finance, and Operations, among others.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, and regulations as well as Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).</p> </li><li> <p>Provide leadership and establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships among all operating units, trades, vendors, and subcontractors.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead team, foremen, and division providing support, training, coaching, mentorship, and development for team members. Ensure accessibility for questions and concerns and problem-solve personnel needs and challenges.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in administrative functions including, but not limited to, interviews, hiring, and coaching and discipline of personnel.</p> </li><li> <p>Examine contract drawings, specifications and addenda for design deficiencies, impractical details, and possible code violations, and bring these to the attention of the Project Manager or project owner to determine improvement needs or RFIs.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify project OSHA and safety requirements or concerns and take corrective actions.</p> </li><li> <p>Remain alert to and aware of potential efficiency improvements on the job site in order to recommend potential enhancements to productivity.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop, maintain, and complete accurate project progress and activity reports on a daily and weekly basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor costs and assist Project Managers in updating projections, reporting to Senior Management as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead and manage Demolition projects and work sites in the separation and/or demolition of multi-story buildings using equipment such as high-reach excavators, grapples, processing equipment, torches, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned</p> </li><li> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> </li><li> <p>Superior EQ with exceptional communication and enhanced leadership skills, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to inspire project efficiency and quality without explicit empowerment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers on multiple platforms and at all levels while remaining professional, supportive, and empathetic.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to develop partnerships with vendors, inspectors, and other stakeholders, to inspire cooperation and boost project efficiency even in areas outside of the company's direct control.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate potential problems and inspire trust such that potential problems are taken seriously and acted upon by other teams well before they become actual problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to maintain a calm and motivating attitude on job site, even in the face of dramatic plan changes, severe complications, and inappropriate clients, vendors, or other partners.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to handle stressful situations in a profoundly professional manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Deep knowledge of heavy civil construction from a planning perspective, specifically in the Demolition specialization, including but not limited to:</p> </li><li> <p>Practical knowledge of federal, state, and municipal building codes related to earthwork construction activities, excavation, sitework, and utilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and interpret plan drawings.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to foresee project flow from several stages prior to Fiore involvement to several stages after the company's scope of work is complete.</p> </li><li> <p>Thorough understanding of how every aspect of each project scope affects every other.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to foresee problems many stages before they become an issue and develop and communicate possible solutions, along with related changes and costs.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of the construction process including technology, equipment, materials, and methods.</p> </li><li> <p>High level organization, planning, prioritization, coordination, and the general ability to manage several moving parts over multiple projects at once, with a big picture perspective of business and thorough understanding of profit and loss, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to multi-task, coordinate, delegate, and supervise project activities and staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of budget project principles.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively while under pressure to meet deadlines.</p> </li><li> <p>Big picture understanding of business, profit and loss, crucial prioritization, and high-level decision-making with a solid level of knowledge in accounting principles such as types of profit, assets, and liabilities, etc., and an understanding of materials markets with the ability to track and project market changes to drive purchasing decisions.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent organizational, grammatical, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex problems at a time.</p> </li><li> <p>Project and team management/leadership skills and experience with no less than 5 years of experience as a foreman or other supervisory role in a related field with a demonstrated track record of excellence.</p> </li><li> <p>Top-notch problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with a good attitude and a healthy balance of confidence and humility to be able to effectively solve problems, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to be goal-oriented and positive; able to react to challenging circumstances to achieve desired end result</p> </li><li> <p>Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products and project-related software such as TrackIt and B2W.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong math and writing skills, including the ability to communicate professionally verbally and by email and to understand and perform complex mathematic equations in real-time.</p> </li><li> <p>Broad understanding of safety and OSHA compliance with 30-hour OSHA safety class within 30 days of assignment.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong demonstrated knowledge in Demolition, including at least an 80% match in type of work performed in Demolition Operations at Fiore & Sons, with:</p> </li><li> <p>Significant experience in 4+ story building demolition</p> </li><li> <p>Substantial experience with high-reach excavators</p> </li><li> <p>Professional experience directing multi-story building separations</p> </li><li> <p>Vast knowledge of demolition tools such as, but not limited to hammers, shears, grapples, and processing equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of proper recycling processing and sorting</p> </li><li> <p>Notable knowledge of the use and care of small hand tools and torches</p> </li><li> <p>Safety training in fall protection, rigging and signaling, and asbestos awareness</p> </li><li> <p>This position requires the ability to communicate in English with co-workers, customers, and the general public.</p> </li><li> <p>Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or holidays as required to accommodate customer and project demands.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Experienced in the use of Viewpoint and B2W software to extract and provide job cost analysis, project information and produce related reports. </li><li>Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time, including uneven terrain on work sites when needed. Ability to push, pull, and lift items up to 25 to 50 lbs. Ability to maneuver paperwork and read a computer screen for extended durations.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Superintendents spend much of each week in the field visiting clients and assigned projects, including exposure to weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow), as well as uneven terrain. Additionally, significant portions of their time are spent in the office, in meetings, at desks, etc., with varying temperatures and extended screen time.
