<p>Position Description</p> <p>The Harris County Attorney's Office (HCAO) is hiring a Communications Manager to join our Communications and Outreach Division. The Harris County Attorney is the chief civil legal officer for Harris County. The office represents Harris County, its officials, and employees in legal matters and serves the public through impactful litigation and enforcement actions.</p> <p>We are seeking a skilled communications professional to support the office's mission by developing and managing messaging, materials, and strategic outreach. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, experience managing projects and people, and a strategic approach to public engagement. This role will supervise a Multimedia Coordinator and interns, and work closely with the Communications Director to ensure consistent messaging and branding across platforms. This position reports to the Director of Communications.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the Communications Director, senior staff, and office Division Directors to develop and execute communications strategies. </li><li>Supervise a Multimedia Coordinator responsible for photo/video content, social media, and manage team interns. </li><li>Identify branding and outreach needs-including brochures, flyers, handouts, and digital content-and manage the creation, production, and distribution of these materials. </li><li>Support media relations, including maintaining media lists, drafting and distributing press releases, and assisting in media outreach and pitching. </li><li>Write and edit a range of materials including press releases, talking points, speeches, internal and external newsletters, email campaigns, and content for digital platforms. </li><li>Oversee website content strategy and updates. </li><li>Manage communications projects and timelines, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and aligned with strategic goals. </li><li>Coordinate across departments to develop and elevate narratives that highlight key work of the office. </li><li>Maintain a strong understanding of the local media landscape and current events that may impact the office's public communication. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties:</p> <ul> <li>This Job Description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this position.
