<p>Work Locations: 1100 26th Avenue East, Bradenton, Florida 34208</p> <p>3055 Lena Road, Bradenton, Florida 34211</p> <p>4700 66th Street West, Bradenton, Florida 34210</p> <p>2411 Tallevast Road, Sarasota, Florida 34243</p> <p>Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, and Saturday - Sunday shifts vary with On-Call and Emergency</p> <p>Expected Starting Hourly Range: $20.68 - $31.95</p> <p>This position is responsible for performing skilled manual and mechanical tasks necessary for repair and preventive maintenance of the County's fleet vehicles and vehicular equipment.</p> <p>Note: Position level and salary will be dependent on qualifications (DOQ).</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.</p> <p>In Accordance with Area of Assignment:</p> <p>Checks vehicles and opens work orders.</p> <p>Inspects vehicles/equipment and opens computerized work orders.</p> <p>Performs maintenance tasks including 32-point inspections, oil changes, fluid level checks, battery's and tires.</p> <p>Repairs, or assists with repairs to vehicles and vehicular equipment, which may include gasoline, diesel, tasks related to engine repair and drivability; hydraulics, transmission, air conditioning, brake systems; etc.</p> <p>Maybe required to use welding and cutting tools to fabricate, strengthen and/or repair weak or fatigued points and perform simple welding tasks.</p> <p>Inspects and adjusts front end and rear axle alignment and suspension systems.</p> <p>Uses state-of-the-art mechanical and diagnostic equipment.</p> <p>Prepares and maintains reports, logs, records, etc., as required.</p> <p>The Senior level serves in a lead capacity by instructing and overseeing the work of lower-level experience staff.</p> <p>Communicates clearly, effectively and tactfully, orally and in writing, including understanding and following instructions and other materials (i. e., manuals, schematics, work orders, etc.)</p> <p>Performs other duties (including weather and other extreme conditions) as required.</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>High school graduate/equivalent.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>Tech I: Minimum of two (2) years' work and/or a certification from an accredited technical school from (within the last 7 years) in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and vehicular equipment.</p> <p>Tech II: Minimum of three (3) years' work and/or training experience (within the last 8 years) in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and vehicular equipment.</p> <p>Tech III: Minimum of Five (5) years' work and/or training experience (within the last 10 years) in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and vehicular equipment.</p> <p>Senior: Minimum of six (6) years' work and/or training experience (within the last 11 years) in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and vehicular equipment.</p> <p>All levels: Must possess a complete set of department approved automotive mechanic tools.</p> <p>Licenses/Certifications:</p> <p>Tech I: Minimum of one (1) active certification equivalent to those of ASE or NATEF, or must obtain one certification within 6 months of hire.</p> <p>Tech II: Minimum of three (3) active certifications equivalent to those of ASE or NATEF. Additional or specific ASE certifications may be required depending on area of assignment.</p> <p>Tech III: Minimum of four (4) active certifications equivalent to those of ASE or NATEF. Additional or specific ASE certifications may be required depending on area of assignment.</p> <p>Senior: Minimum of five (5) active certifications equivalent to those of ASE or NATEF. Additional or specific ASE certifications may be required depending on area of assignment.</p> <p>All Levels:</p> <p>Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class "B" with P (Passenger) endorsement or must obtain within six (6) months of hire.</p> <p>All levels must possess a complete, department-approved, set of automotive mechanic tools.</p> <p>All positions will be given a tool allowance ranging from $1.84-$2.62, depending on hired level.</p>
