No</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures. </li><li>Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines. </li><li>Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed. </li><li>Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results. </li><li>Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods. </li><li>Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment. 1-2 years preferred</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures. </li><li>Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments. </li><li>Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools. </li><li>Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Details (if applicable)</p> <p>The Venkatesh Lab is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Lab Tech I to contribute to ongoing research projects in cancer neuroscience. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, a strong academic background in biology, biomedical engineering or a related field, and excellent communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to publications and presentations.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>Laboratory Research (60%): </li></ol> <ul> <li>Perform laboratory techniques such as qPCR, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, genotyping, primary cell culturing, and sterile technique. </li><li>Conduct brain and spleen mouse dissection, microglia isolation, and tissue mounting. </li><li>Operate equipment such as confocal microscopes, slide scanners, and other imaging tools. </li><li>Learn, master, and implement surgical techniques commonly used in preclinical models. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of experiments and results. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Data Analysis (20%): </li></ol> <ul> <li>Analyze data using software such as ImageJ, Qupath, and other relevant tools. </li><li>Prepare figures and tables for publications and presentations. </li><li>Contribute to the interpretation of results and discussion of findings. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Collaboration and Communication (15%): </li></ol> <ul> <li>Work closely with research scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. </li><li>Attend and contribute to lab meetings and research discussions. </li><li>Present findings at internal lab meetings and potentially at external conferences. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Lab Upkeep (5%): </li></ol> <ul> <li>Manage laboratory inventories, including ordering reagents and maintaining stock levels of commonly used consumables. </li><li>Assist in ensuring compliance with institutional biosafety, animal care, and chemical safety regulations. </li><li>Assist in the preparation of grant applications and research proposals. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and sterile technique. </li><li>Experience with data analysis software such as Prism, MATLAB, and ImageJ. </li><li>Previous research experience in neuroscience, cancer biology, or a related field. </li><li>Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. </li><li>Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality research. </li></ul> <p>Remote Type</p> <p>Onsite</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>60 Fenwood Road</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours</p> <p>40</p> <p>Employee Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Work Shift</p> <p>Day (United States of America)</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
