Join our team as a Traffic Signal & Video Technician, where your expertise with cutting-edge technology directly supports the flow of daily life in our county. In this hands-on role, you'll work with the systems that power our roadways-installing, maintaining, and fine-tuning everything from advanced traffic signal controllers and fiber-optic communication networks to vehicle detection systems, video cameras, and pedestrian safety equipment.</p> <p>Every day brings a new challenge and a new opportunity to make an impact. One moment you may be responding to a malfunctioning school zone flasher, ensuring students stay safe on their way to class; the next, you might be troubleshooting roadway lighting, repairing high-voltage systems, or restoring critical equipment after an unexpected outage. With the help of specialized diagnostic tools and your strong electrical and technical skills, you'll keep our traffic infrastructure running smoothly and reliably.</p> <p>You'll also play a key role in field investigations, contractor coordination, and documentation-helping ensure that every project meets our high standards for safety and performance. Education, Licenses and Certifications</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent with some vocational or technical training in electronics. </li><li>Three (3) years of experience in traffic signal installation or repair, electronics, or electrical trade. </li></ul> <p>Licenses and/or Certificates:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain within six (6) months:</p> </li><li> <p>International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level I & II Traffic Signals</p> </li><li> <p>Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control certification (formerly FDOT Maintenance of Traffic).</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain within twelve (12) months of position assignment:</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with Air Brake endorsement.</p> </li><li> <p>IMSA Level I Roadway Lighting Certification</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <p>What You Bring to the Team</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong understanding of electronics, electricity, and computer circuitry, especially as they relate to traffic signal control systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Hands-on experience with the construction, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals, signal systems, fiber-optic communications, video systems, street lighting, school zone devices, drawbridges, and boat locks.</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing traffic signal installation, roadway closures, and safety requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to troubleshoot electronic, fiber-optic, and video system issues efficiently.</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and electrical schematics.</p> </li><li> <p>Comfortable and safe working around live electrical components, at heights, and operating aerial lifts, vehicles, and construction equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Resourceful problem solver who can make sound recommendations and adapt to new challenges.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to lead and mentor team members when needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and follow complex instructions.</p> </li><li> <p>Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide excellent customer service and internal support.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient with standard office software and capable of maintaining accurate records and reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Willing and able to perform manual labor, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.</p> </li><li> <p>A team-oriented mindset with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.</p> </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Working Conditions: Work requires moderate exposure to environmental changes (e.g., outdoor weather and/or field conditions, warehouses, covered loading docks, garages, etc.) or irate customers, extreme noise, odors, heights and/or dust.</p> <p>Risk/Safety Conditions: This position requires moderate exposure or risk to physical health and/or physical safety (e.g., exposure to environmentally hazardous material, assault and battery, heavy equipment, communicable disease, etc.).</p> <p>Physical Activities: Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception. Frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.
