<p>The department of Languages and Cultures at Utah Valley University is seeking a student German Tutor.</p> <ul> <li>Tutor students enrolled in German courses, particularly lower-division courses, in person and virtually. </li><li>Complete tutoring certification program, model problem-solving skills and study strategies, assist in curriculum design for language lab, and improve personal language skills. </li><li>Participate in the production and dissemination of promotional materials and events. </li><li>Assist students with language-specific programs online and in computer lab. </li><li>Perform other tasks as assigned by the lab manager. </li><li>Native or near-native proficiency in language comprehension, production, and writing.  </li><li>Knowledge and ability to explain, in detail, aspects of German (grammar, vocabulary, syntax, pronunciation, colloquial usage, etc.) as covered in German 3050, or equivalent. </li><li>Engagement with German community outside academic setting. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Majoring or minoring in German. </li><li>Experience in teaching or tutoring. </li><li>Experience in utilizing tutoring services. </li><li>Experience in collating and analyzing data in Microsoft Excel. </li><li>Ethical, responsible, motivated self-starter who needs little supervision after training. </li><li>Ability to adhere to a set schedule with little supervision. </li><li>Evidence of advanced customer service and interpersonal skills. </li><li>General computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.). </li></ul>
