<p>Under the Direction of the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager, the EHS Specialist will provide a safe environment for hospital patients, visitors and staff through of the Safety and Emergency Preparedness programs. Ensures the Safety and Emergency Management Plans in accordance with state, federal and accrediting bodies as well as serving as operational manager of the Alta Safety program. Coordinates individual and committee efforts and informs Administration and Governing body of important safety and emergency management issues. Acts as a community liaison with local, county and state planning activities to include preparedness, mitigation and education. Designs and conducts drills and exercises offering expertise to departmental directors about Safety and Emergency Management. Conducts employee education on related programs and evaluation of all Safety and Emergency Management programs. Serves as a resource in the development of grant proposals related to Emergency Management for the County.</p> <ul> <li>Facilitates implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and for the reduction of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) liabilities. </li><li>Facilitates the Environment of Care (EOC) program, which consists of, but is not limited to EOC rounding, committee meetings and review/creation/evaluation of the EOC management plans and its policies and procedures and collaboratively develops plans of action with department heads. </li><li>Analyzes data to identify environmental health and safety risk trends, recommends and monitors actions to mitigate hazards and develops prevention strategies and programs. Communicates strategies, priorities and recommends corrective actions to supervisor, facility leadership, department managers and employees. </li><li>Provides disaster preparedness training to staff. Develops and maintains a trained and prepared hospital decontamination team that provides coverage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Coordinates the facilities' participation in exercises and drills in conjunction with county and community partners to ensure hospital preparedness. </li><li>Implements HPP grant deliverables for the current statement of work and maintain all documentation required for the annual review by the Los Angeles County EMS Agency and/or regulatory agencies. </li></ul> <p>Southern Cali Hospital Hollywood</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Three (3) years of professional experience in emergency management, environment of care or related field </li><li>Hospital Disaster Management Training (HDMT) within one year of hire. </li><li>Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English </li><li>Computer literacy and proficiency </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization </li><li>Understanding of basic medical terminology </li><li>Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload </li><li>Ability to multitask and prioritize needs to meet timelines </li><li>Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, Social Sciences, or related field. </li><li>Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) Certification, Certified Emergency Management Certification (CEM), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), and Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) preferred. </li></ul> <p>Pay Rate: Min - $77,000 | Max - $100,050</p>
