<p>General Definition of Work</p> <p>The Central Office Career Development Coordinator (CDC CO), under intermittent supervision, performs intermediate-level work with limited decision-making discretion supporting the career and technical education (CTE) department and providing and coordinating career development services for students in grades 5-12 at the district level. The position works collaboratively with the NCDPI, central office CTE administrators and central office CTE coordinators, student services personnel, and teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services. Responsible for facilitating linkages with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support students' transition to post-secondary education and employment. This position will support high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools (5th grade only). The employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the CTE director.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures </li><li>Adhere to the North Carolina professional career development coordinator standards </li><li>Create, lead, and monitor CTE district-level plans that set weekly, monthly, and annual career development and awareness accountability metrics for central office CTE coordinators that align with NCDPI CTE and the CMS Board of Education goals </li><li>Create, lead, and monitor CTE district-level plans, accountability targets, expectations, and reporting periods that develop, coordinate, promote, and execute 5th-grade, middle school, and high school CTE career development services, career awareness, and exploration activities for central office CTE coordinators </li><li>Research and provide career development, occupational, labor market, non-traditional career, and post-secondary information to increase 5th-grade, middle school, and high school student awareness </li><li>Develop and lead district-level CTE plans, accountability targets, expectations, and reporting periods for central office CTE coordinators to coordinate 5th-grade, middle school, and high school career planning activities in schools with CTE programs </li><li>Develop and lead district-level CTE plans, accountability targets, expectations, and reporting periods for central office CTE coordinators for the administration and interpretation of career assessments for 5th-grade, middle, and high school students </li><li>Develop and lead district-level CTE plans, targets, expectations, and reporting periods for central office CTE coordinators that increase middle and high school chapters of career & technical student organizations (CTSOs) </li><li>Lead the district-wide coordination of the Students@Work Initiative, CMS Endless Possibilities Fair, Futures Fair, and other career awareness events </li><li>Develop and lead district-level CTE plans, accountability targets, expectations, and reporting periods for central office CTE coordinators for the use of career readiness tools like NCcareers.org, Naviance, and Transfr VR to increase student matriculation into middle school CTE courses and high school career pathways </li><li>Develop and lead district-level plans for central office CTE coordinators to coordinate activities for 5th-grade, middle school, and high school students to learn about post-secondary education programs, employment opportunities, and develop employability skills </li><li>Promote the use of technology for career planning and research </li><li>Facilitate business, education, and community partnerships that provide opportunities for all CTE students in the CMS district </li><li>Develop and lead district-level plans for central office CTE coordinators to provide summer career exploration opportunities for CTE students </li><li>Serve as a district-level liaison with the business, industry, education, and military community </li><li>Develop and lead district-level budget plans for central office CTE Coordinators for consumables, equipment, professional development, and field trips to include accountability targets, expectations, and reporting periods that align with student career development </li><li>Publicize partnership resources </li><li>Participate in professional development activities at the local, regional, state, and national levels </li><li>Interpret student data for the district </li><li>Perform safety functions/drills to maintain a safe instructional environment. Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities </li><li>Perform related work as assigned or required </li></ul>
