<p>Gr. New Bedford Regional Voc Tech High School</p> <p>Health & Hospitality Academy Administrator</p> <p>SCHOOL YEAR: 202 Days (GNBAU) : (it is expected that the incumbent will work any additional time needed for interviewing prospective teachers and conducting procedures necessary for the opening and closing of the Career and Technical areas within the Academy.)</p> <p>Position Purpose:</p> <p>The Vocational Technical Academy Administrator is responsible for overseeing and supervising the career/technical programs and personnel within their assigned Academy in the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational High School (Business Technology, Culinary Arts, Dental Assisting, Design & Visual Communications, Early Education, EMT, Health Assisting, Legal & Protective Services, and Medical Assisting). This position is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control; performs all other related work as required.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)</p> <ul> <li>Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals. </li><li>Enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy. </li><li>Manage all phases of the budget process for academy needs. </li><li>Assess, estimate, and schedule work projects both on and off school grounds. </li><li>Monitor the development, implementation, revision, and evaluation of curriculum, assisting faculty as needed. </li><li>Implement safety measures protecting students, teachers, equipment, materials, and facilities. </li><li>Ensure all students adhere to the specific dress codes and safety protocols mandated within each program of the academy. </li><li>Communicate with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators regarding student educational and behavioral progress. </li><li>Arrange for and chair meetings addressing educational and behavioral needs with students, parents/guardians, and teachers during or beyond the school day. </li><li>Ensure all programs have adopted fair and equitable grading practices. </li><li>Select students for cooperative and full-time employment positions in cooperation with the Coordinator of Cooperative/Career Education Placement. </li><li>Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. </li><li>Cooperate with faculty, guidance, support staff, special areas, and administrators. </li><li>Monitor and evaluate teacher and teacher assistant performance in the shop and related classroom, assisting as needed. </li><li>Participate in the selection process for teachers, teacher assistant, or other relevant positions. </li><li>Orient new teachers and teacher assistants to their responsibilities, school structure, and expectations. </li><li>Recruit teachers and purchase supplies for adult education programs for shops within your supervision and in cooperation with the Adult Education Director. </li><li>Oversee advisory committee membership, meetings, and recommendations. </li><li>Participate in professional growth through ongoing reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning. </li><li>Participate in staff and faculty meetings. </li><li>Perform other assigned duties as needed. </li></ul> <p>Recommended Minimum Qualification</p> <p>Education, Training and Experience:</p> <p>The candidate must meet the certification requirements of the State Department of Education, Division of Occupational Education and hold a valid Chapter 74 as Voc-Tech Supervisor/Director, Bachelors/Masters Degree. Five years of recent teaching and supervisory experience preferred.</p> <p>Knowledge, Ability and Skills:</p> <p>Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge and use of materials and resources in accordance with the adopted curricula for their assigned shop areas and consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided. Demonstrates effective student management skills and provides for sound and effective techniques of instruction</p> <p>Ability. Ability to communicate effectively, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all school employees, students, teachers, parents, and vendors, and employers. Ability to recognize school-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deal effectively with interruptions, occasionally under time pressure.</p> <p>Skills: A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Have the desire and skill to work with a diverse community in a meaningful and genuine manner. Culturally Proficient leadership skills including visioning, active listening, coaching, facilitation, and use of data for decision making. Demonstrates enthusiasm for learning and interest in students. Encourages students and teachers to set and maintain high standards of achievement and classroom behavior. Demonstrates effective knowledge and use of curriculum content (subject-matter and skills) associated with the instructional assignment. Supervise students and teachers assigned to the CVTE academy/programs.</p> <p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate effective knowledge of and be sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population. Willing and able to perform assigned duties in a manner that is sensitive to different personalities, respectful of the role and authority of school leaders, and sensitive to community dynamics. Serve as a role model and mentor to young students.</p> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing and pulling. Lifting up to 20 lbs.</p> <p>Supervision Received: Works under the supervision of the Vocational Director and Principal.</p> <p>Supervision Given: Supervises the teachers, teaching assistants, clerical and other staff assigned to support the position.</p> <p>Job Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Work is also performed under typical office/school conditions; the environment is moderately noisy. </li><li>Interacts with other school staff, teachers, students, parents, and vendors. </li><li>Has access to school-related confidential and/or sensitive information including student records, financial records, the disclosure of which would cause a significant breach of trust and seriously damage the reputation of the school. </li><li>Errors in judgment could result in hardship to the students and the school, lower standards of service to the community, monetary loss or legal repercussions and possible negative public relations for both. </li></ul> <p>(This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employers and is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change.)</p> <p>Mission and Values.
