We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Under general supervision performs preventive maintenance and repairs mechanical equipment and systems throughout the entire hospital complex.</p> <p>May be required to carry the on-call pagers.</p> <p>May be required to work weekends or rotating shifts.</p> <p>Does this position require Patient Care? No</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Performs preventive and/or predictive maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment and systems throughout the hospital including fire extinguishers. </li><li>Make repairs as necessary to building operations and mechanical systems including replacement of belts, drives, filters, seals, motors and pumps, etc. </li><li>Repairs all HVAC systems in the hospital (fan units, A/C units, and exhaust fans), including conducting manometer readings. </li><li>Inspect and diagnose problem equipment. </li><li>Responds to all emergency situations when and where appropriate and/or necessary and may cover route throughout the complex </li><li>Responsible for cleaning all Engineering areas (Bed tower, Peter Bent Brigham, Thorn Building, BLI, MRB). </li><li>Performs routine work such as unclogging drains, replacing washers and/or faucets, replacing light bulbs and cords. </li><li>Responds to routine work such as hanging pictures, installing cabinets, door locks, hanging bulletin and chalkboards, etc. </li><li>Performs minor adjustments to beds and stretchers. </li><li>Must have a good working knowledge of various tools. </li><li>May occasionally assist other tradesmen in their duties related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry work. </li><li>Maintain a safe working environment in areas of Engineering Department responsibility. </li><li>Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned and work with other departments in emergency situations. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <p>High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma required</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>2 years mechanical or electrical experience and/or a graduate of a technical or vocational school. required</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Must successfully interact and cooperate with other groups with the hospital. </li><li>Must be able to clearly explain issues to other hospital personnel. </li><li>Good working knowledge and effective use of standard hand tools small power tools and relate mechanical specialty tools. </li><li>May occasionally (less than 15% of the time) get involved in an dirty or hazardous environment in the performance of his/her duties. </li><li>Occasionally (less than 15% of the time) must exert effort to lift over 30lbs. </li><li>Constant tours and walking throughout the facility. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Details (if applicable)</p> <p>Physical RequirementsStanding Constantly (67-100%) Walking Constantly (67-100%) Sitting Rarely (Less than 2%) Lifting Frequently (34-66%) 35lbs+ (w/assisted device) Carrying Frequently (34-66%) 35lbs+ (w/assisted device) Pushing Frequently (34-66%) Pulling Frequently (34-66%) Climbing Occasionally (3-33%) Balancing Constantly (67-100%) Stooping Occasionally (3-33%) Kneeling Occasionally (3-33%) Crouching Occasionally (3-33%) Crawling Occasionally (3-33%) Reaching Occasionally (3-33%) Gross Manipulation (Handling) Constantly (67-100%) Fine Manipulation (Fingering) Frequently (34-66%) Feeling Constantly (67-100%) Foot Use Rarely (Less than 2%) Vision - Far Constantly (67-100%) Vision - Near Constantly (67-100%) Talking Constantly (67-100%) Hearing Constantly (67-100%)</p> <p>Remote Type</p> <p>Onsite</p> <p>Work Location</p> <p>50 Staniford Street</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours</p> <p>40</p> <p>Employee Type</p> <p>Regular</p> <p>Work Shift</p> <p>Night (United States of America)</p> <p>EEO Statement:</p> <p>The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
