Today, we are one of the world's fastest growing insurance organizations, capable of writing in 128 countries on 6 continents.</p> <p>Starr Companies is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Business Systems Analyst with reinsurance expertise in both Premium and Claims, Treaty and Facultative contracts. Knowledge of Reinsurance Accounting data a plus. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in Product Support, business / data analysis. This position will be a replacement to the IT area that supports Starr's Reinsurance applications. The analyst will be part of a team of developers / analysts responsible for the current reinsurance platform and also be involved in the design and implementation of a new reinsurance system as part of Starr's Global reinsurance transformation initiative. The analyst will work in collaboration with other data analysts, developers, vendors, and key business stakeholders both internal and external to ensure system design best practices and data quality.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Develop a good understanding of the functionality and operation of the applications </li><li>Develop a good understanding of application integration points with other systems and end to end data flows </li><li>Support the Senior IT Manager to drive initiatives forward ensuring timely delivery of project milestones </li><li>Work with Business Operations SME's to gather, analyze and document business requirements into Functional Specifications </li><li>Troubleshoot production support issues and document root cause and resolutions </li><li>Frequently communicate status of tasks ensuring all deadlines are met </li><li>Assist in the development of test scenarios, test execution and test results validation, as needed </li></ul> <p>Data Management & Project Support</p> <ul> <li>Use SQL and Excel to identify, analyze and resolve data quality issues </li><li>Perform data profiling and analysis on reinsurance and enterprise data warehouses </li><li>Document and map ETL transformations to Onboard or enhance data feeds </li><li>Ensure data standards are reused and enforced across data platforms. </li><li>Maintain process protocols by writing and updating procedures. </li></ul> <p>Effective Communication and Team Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Understand complex interdependencies </li><li>Ability to capture meeting notes as needed, create and maintain issue logs </li><li>Able to identify and escalate issues appropriately </li><li>Review designs by other team members and give constructive feedback. </li><li>Follow departmental standard operating procedures, workflow processes and work in a transparent manner. </li></ul> <p>Position Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (5+ years data experience), Masters a plus </li><li>Knowledge of Reinsurance and Reinsurance platforms Required </li><li>Quick Learner with an excellent memory </li><li>Strong Excel skills - speed and proficiency </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency with SQL </li><li>Strong analytical skills, especially data analysis </li><li>Understand data flows </li><li>Experienced with ETL transformations & data mapping Preferred </li><li>Project Management skills a plus </li><li>Intellectual curiosity and a desire to seek new challenges </li><li>Ability to work autonomously </li></ul> <p>Starr is an equal opportunity employer, which means we'll consider all suitably qualified applicants regardless of gender identity or expression, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or beliefs, age, sexual orientation, disability status or any other protected characteristic.
