Will co-sign cases for lower level underwriters.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Evaluates and assesses risk on applications, renewals, and reinstatements and make decisions as to whether a risk is acceptable under the given terms and provides a reasonable opportunity to perform profitably. </li><li>Reviews appeals and declinations. </li><li>Handles co-signs/referrals and mentors' new underwriters. </li><li>Assesses alternative ways to make a risk acceptable independently and will often mentor other UW levels on advanced or complex risks. </li><li>Serves as the Underwriting representative for the region and fills in for the Manager when requested. </li><li>Reviews, resolves, corrects and re-inputs all systems errors or omissions prior to the next daily run. </li><li>Monitors and reviews Workflow Management reports. Ability to detect problems and make recommendations for correction. Report findings to Management. </li><li>Educates, coaches and trains agents on underwriting procedures, philosophy and new products. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree. </li><li>Six to eight years of experience. </li><li>Supervisory/management experience not applicable. </li><li>Experience mentoring or coaching less experienced underwriters </li></ul> <p>OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>The position requires ability to effectively communicate with others to exchange information. </li><li>A person in this position establishes methods and procedures for attaining specific goals and objectives, and receives guidance in terms of broad goals. Only the final results of work are typically reviewed. </li></ul> <p>PREFERENCES:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
