Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assists with minor procedures as directed by a physician or health practitioner. The CMA acts as a practice ambassador contributing to overallpatient experience, safety, and privacy. Other administrative duties include coordinating appointments, managing patient communication and ensuring the smooth operation of the pediatric mobile clinic.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li><li>Medical Assistant Certification required or the ability and willingness to obtain certification from one of the following recognized organizations within 60days of hire: NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, NAHP, </li><li>Job title will reflect Medical Assistant and will convert to Certified Medical Assistant uponproof of certification </li><li>BLS Certification approved by AHA </li><li>At least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a pediatric setting, </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual, Spanish-speaking preferred </li><li>Previous vaccination experience preferred, </li></ul> <p>Scheduling Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>PT </li><li>Days </li><li>This position is part-time up to 15 hours per week on a pediatric mobile van equipped to provide general pediatric care typically during after-school hours, </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Communicates with insurance providers and handles pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary </li><li>Communicates with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner </li><li>Creates and maintains health record information, files and organizes as needed </li><li>Performs clinical tasks such as blood draws, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration as needed </li><li>Prepares rooms, arranges instruments and equipment, and ensures a neat and sanitary environment </li><li>Rooms patients, verifies patient information, confirms purpose of visit, obtains and records vitals and updates medical history </li><li>Supports practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, preparing labrequests, and other clerical tasks as assigned </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <p>o Demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of patient satisfaction and safety</p> <p>o Ability to take vital signs and perform a patient assessment</p> <p>o Administration of medications as directed by physician or health practitioner</p> <p>o Phlebotomy and EKG preferred</p> <p>o Proficient knowledge of medical terminology</p> <p>o Strong written and oral communication skills essential with the ability to relate and communicate well to all cultural and ethnic groups in the community</p> <p>o Attention to accuracy and detail</p> <p>o Ability to work independently and in a team environment</p> <p>o Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure</p> <p>o Knowledge of electronic medical record systems, preferred</p> <p>Current and valid driver s license, registration, inspection sticker, and appropriate level of insurance coverage required, to include collision to perform the essential duties of the position</p> <p>RWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer</p>
