<p>Based in the Washington, DC office, the Learning and Development Senior Manager will play a key role in designing and implementing professional and business skills programs for lawyers across the Americas region. This role combines strategic design, project leadership, and operational oversight with a strong emphasis on relationship-building and team development. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, rigor, and a collaborative mindset to help advance the firm's commitment to continuous learning and development.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>This position reports to the firm's Director of Learning and Development for the Americas.</p> <ul> <li>Strategic program design and delivery: Lead the design and implementation of comprehensive distinct learning experiences for attorneys at different career development stages, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and professional development strategies. </li><li>Facilitation and delivery: With the Director, co-facilitate engaging in-person and virtual programs, while mentoring junior team members and providing constructive feedback to enhance quality of programs. </li><li>Coaching: Offer coaching and guidance to attorneys, fostering a growth-oriented environment and helping individuals develop skills, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. </li><li>Relationship building: Build deep relationships that facilitate cross-functional collaboration across functions and practices. </li><li>Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities for junior team members. Role model collaborative leadership and a culture of continuous feedback. </li><li>Creative thinking: Recommend program enhancements, discussion topics, training and resources. </li><li>Project leadership: Manage complex, high-impact learning initiatives from concept to completion, establishing critical timelines, milestones, resource allocations, and deliverables. Oversee the comprehensive management of extended cohort programs and offer mentorship to junior team members. </li><li>Logistics coordination: Supervise and assist with coordination of all logistical elements of training programs, implementing efficient systems and processes for seamless execution. </li><li>Program communications: Produce engaging and clear communications to effectively promote programs and initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with organizational values. </li><li>Needs assessment: Conduct program needs analyses and translate insights into actionable strategic recommendations. </li><li>Innovative learning solutions: Support the creation of sophisticated blended learning solutions, incorporating methodologies and technologies to enhance learning outcomes. </li><li>Stakeholder and subject matter expert engagement: Cultivate partnerships to further improve program relevance and delivery. Establish and maintain a robust network of vendors and internal subject matter experts, strategically leveraging these relationships to enhance program quality and effectiveness. </li><li>Trends and developments: Stay informed on the latest trends in learning and development. Integrate innovative training approaches and identify suitable vendors that match the firm's standards for training quality and relevance. </li><li>Marketing materials: Work with stakeholders and across Business Teams to manage production of all department marketing materials including department newsletter, regional offerings brochure, skills frameworks, and high impact presentations delivered to leaders and functions. </li><li>All other duties as may be assigned. </li><li>All members of the firm are expected to participate in our Responsible Business program. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of 8+ years of relevant professional development experience required, including demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment. </li><li>Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree, JD, or extensive experience with Learning and Development in law firms strongly preferred. </li><li>Possess a coaching credential or actively pursuing one, with demonstrated experience in coaching individuals to support professional growth, performance enhancement, and leadership development. </li><li>Proven track record of leading complex projects and cross-functional teams to successful outcomes. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop long-term plans, and align learning initiatives with the broader business objectives. </li><li>Experience with project management methodologies and leadership of complex, multi-faceted initiatives. </li><li>Experience building, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and drive initiatives forward with minimal supervision. </li><li>Ability to think creatively about new concepts and ideas and solutions to existing challenges; adaptability. </li><li>Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership. </li><li>Outstanding interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus. </li><li>Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities. </li><li>Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with learning management systems. </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. </li><li>Commitment to preserving confidentiality and exercising discretion in a legal environment. </li><li>Ability and willingness to travel to other offices as needed for program implementation and relationship building. </li></ul> <p>Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including one hour for lunch, with overtime as needed for program support.</p> <p>In Washington, D.C., the annualized salary range for this position is $177,000 to $207,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
