<p>An opportunity to Inspire, Challenge, and Empower!</p> <p>Posting Information: We are currently hiring a Student Store Supervisor (Para Tech) for Shelton High School beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. Open until filled.</p> <p>Interview Process: Applicants are encouraged to apply by the deadline provided above. If selected for an interview, you will be invited to complete an Asynchronous Virtual Interview. Candidates chosen for a second round interview will participate in an in-person interviews at a date to be determined.</p> <p>Schedule: 6.5 hours per day; M-F. This position is temporary for the 25/26 school year, but may be extended into future school years based on student enrollment, funding, and program need.</p> <p>Location: Shelton High School</p> <p>Salary: $25.97 - $29.02 per hour, depending on experience. Salary Range is based on the 24/25 ESP Salary Schedule.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (overtime eligible)</p> <p>Benefits: 12 sick leave days; Up to 12 paid holidays; 6 personal leave days (to be deducted from sick leave); 5 bereavement leave days; (leave to be pro-rated by employee's scheduled work days for the school year); health insurance benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance; other fringe benefits as allowed under under School Board Policies and Procedures and the Educational Support Personnel Collective Bargaining Agreement.</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Student Store Supervisor (Para Tech) at Shelton High School supports the Shelton School District's Strategic Plan and Shelton High School's School Improvement Plan by being responsible for the day-to-day operations and effective management of the student store. This role involves guiding and overseeing students as they carry out store-related tasks under the supervision of the store supervisor. The student store supervisor is expected to train, instruct, and supervise students, while consistently monitoring their work for accuracy and quality. When duties aren't performed by the students, the supervisor is responsible for performing those duties directly to ensure smooth and efficient store operations.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Completed two (2) years (72 quarter credits) of study at an institution of higher learning OR AA degree from an approved institution, OR completion of the ETS ParaPro Assessment with a passing score. </li><li>High school graduation or equivalent. </li><li>Ability to pass a Federal criminal background check. </li><li>Demonstrates proficiency in basic math including performing operations involving monetary units and basic accounting skills. </li><li>Ability to operate cash registers including troubleshooting minor POS issues and reconciling daily sales with cash drawer totals. </li><li>Ability to track inventory in an effective and efficient manner and support students in conducting stock counts and reordering supplies. </li><li>Ability to use computers and various software packages with proficiency. </li><li>Demonstrated communication skills written with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech; speaking with poise, voice control and confidence, using correct English and well-modulate voice. </li><li>Demonstrates high energy and professionalism. </li><li>Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. </li><li>Dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations. </li><li>Read a variety of materials with understanding. </li><li>Ability to complete 28 hours of District provided training within the first school year of employment as required by statute. </li><li>Ability and willingness to learn and implement new strategies and techniques. </li><li>Possession of excellent communication skills including active listening and two-way communication. </li><li>Ability and willingness to maintain an upbeat, positive, and collaborative demeanor. </li><li>Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment. </li><li>Ability and willingness to incorporate lightheartedness and humor into the workplace. </li><li>Ability and willingness to make independent decisions as well as work collaboratively with other staff. </li><li>Ability and willingness to admit faults and learn from mistakes. </li><li>Ability and willingness to apply policies, procedures, statutes, and regulations accurately. </li><li>Ability and willingness to effectively and efficiently perform work in a fast paced environment with competing demands through organization, attention to detail, and prioritization. </li><li>Ability and willingness to work with diverse students, staff, and families. </li><li>Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations. </li><li>Ability and willingness to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Train and supervise students in all store operations and customer service, including: </li><li>a. Balance tills and prepare shift deposits six times each day. </li><li>b. Prepare a daily deposit at the end of each day. </li><li>c. Process accounts payable. </li><li>Figure mark-up on merchandise. </li><li>Supervise student employees and student customers during five shifts. </li><li>Maintain positive relationships with all vendors and staff. </li><li>Supervise advertising. </li><li>Prepare a weekly schedule for all shifts: duties and students performing the same. </li><li>Supervise safe food preparation. </li><li>Manage personnel problems. </li><li>Supervise restocking after every shift to maintain the store at a state-level of cleanliness. </li><li>Supervise daily cleaning of store. </li><li>Conduct monthly inventory. </li><li>Purchase weekly merchandise. </li><li>Receive daily merchandise. </li><li>Maintain all store equipment. </li><li>Ensure the Health Department compliance is met pertaining to all aspects of the store and its workers, including food handler cards. </li><li>Attend trainings and meetings as appropriate or directed. </li><li>Performs related duties as assigned. </li></ul>
