This part-time, non-tenure track position may be assigned to the Yakima Campus, Grandview Campus, Toppenish Learning Center, or Ellensburg Learning Center.</p> <p>Reporting to the Dean - College and Career Readiness, the adjunct ABE and ESL Instructors will be accomplished and active in their discipline, committed to participating in a multicultural, interdisciplinary learning environment, and skilled in the technology of learning and research. </p> <p>The ABE/ESL instructor will possess an educational preparation and professional experience appropriate for this position.</p> <p> JOB PROFILE: </p> <ul> <li>Plan, implement, and monitor instruction for individuals and groups </li><li>Accurately complete, maintain, and submit student and class records in a timely manner </li><li>Communicate effectively in writing and speaking in English </li><li>Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the public to create a positive classroom environment </li><li>Use a computer for word processing, instruction and communication with the college </li><li>Comply with all college, state and federal rules, regulations, and laws including but not limited to, those governing student and personnel records </li></ul> <p> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: </p> <ul> <li>An earned Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in an Adult Basic Education field. </li><li>Two years recent synchronous teaching experience (classroom and/or online) in mathematics, Language Arts, or ESL. </li><li>Experience working successfully with students of varied skill levels and diverse backgrounds. </li></ul> <p>DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: </p> <ul> <li>A graduate degree with significant training in mathematics, reading, English, and/or ESL. </li><li>A clear commitment to community college and adult education philosophies. </li><li>Experience or interest in using a variety of student-centered instructional and assessment techniques. </li><li>Experience or interest in curriculum development and assessment of outcomes-based learning. </li><li>Successful experience advising students, developing course material and schedules.  </li><li>A demonstrated commitment in continuing their education through participation in professional development. </li><li>Experience with word processing and educational software using a learning management system.  </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching and learning environment that honors diversity, equity and inclusion. </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions: </p> <p>To apply for this position, you MUST submit a complete YVC Online Employment Application, and include the following REQUIRED attachments: </p> <ul> <li>A cover letter describing how you meet the qualifications of this position (a generic cover letter will not be accepted)   </li><li>A current resume (a resume will not substitute for the "work experience" section of the online application)   </li><li>Three (3) professional references (personal references do not count as professional) </li><li>Unofficial transcripts for confirmation of degree (if minimum qualifications require a degree).
