As an ASX-listed company, Sims provides the stability, transparency, and professional growth opportunities of a publicly traded organisation, all driven by our purpose: to create a world without waste.</p> <p>MRP Manager Job Description</p> <p>The Metal Recovery Plant Manager is responsible for operating the plant as efficiently as possible by effectively maintaining operations, providing quality control, and supervising and scheduling personnel and material movements. All equipment maintenance will be monitored in order to address any issues and streamline processes. The Manager will ensure that all operations comply with safety and environmental regulations and best management practices, and that all employees are instructed and monitored in the safe operation of all machinery.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Safety, Health, Environment, and Community </li><li>Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and company best management practices. </li><li>Enforce, monitor, and promote adherence to company safety policies. </li></ul> <p>Equipment Operations and Maintenance</p> <ul> <li>Observe workers and equipment to identify errors, malfunctions, or unsafe operations and initiate corrective actions. </li><li>Inspect machines and equipment to ensure proper performance and optimal utilization. </li><li>Schedule preventive maintenance at appropriate intervals to ensure reliability and continuous production. </li><li>Coordinate repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. </li><li>Maintain and manage spare parts inventory. </li><li>Coordinate response during equipment breakdowns by scheduling contractors or guiding employees in repair activities. </li><li>Support, organize, and execute CER (Capital Expenditure Request) projects. </li></ul> <p>Staff Training and Management</p> <ul> <li>Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. </li><li>Train new employees by demonstrating equipment operation, safety procedures, and work practices, or by assigning them to experienced personnel. </li><li>Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for employees. </li><li>Confer with management or subordinates to resolve employee issues, complaints, or grievances. </li></ul> <p>Reporting and Scheduling</p> <ul> <li>Maintain accurate time, maintenance, and production records and reports. </li><li>Coordinate with Division Management on plant scheduling, including: </li><li>Overall production planning </li><li>Container and debris loading </li><li>Treatment system operations </li><li>Ordering of admixtures and disposal services </li><li>Compliance testing and reporting </li></ul> <p>Quality Control and Continuous Improvement</p> <ul> <li>Examine products to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards. </li><li>Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and overall product quality. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications/Experience</p> <ul> <li>Education: B.A. Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Sustainable Engineering, Metallurgy, etc. preferred </li><li>Years of Experience: 10 years relevant scrap industry/department MRP/Shredder) experience preferred. </li><li>Prior experience in similar metals or manufacturing operations. </li><li>Effective management skills and strategies when working with both union and non-union employees. </li><li>Must be able to communicate with and motivate the work force to assure completion of mechanical and maintenance repairs as expeditiously and cost effectively as possible to avoid work stoppages while maintaining safety. </li><li>Should have a good understanding of the operation of equipment and be able to determine problems and identify solutions. </li><li>Computer Skills: Microsoft Office </li></ul> <p>A career with Sims provides you with the opportunity to work with an organization whose goal is to be the world's safest and most responsible recycling company.
