<p>Job Title Student Assistant Admissions - OU Southern Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Students must upload a cover letter, resume and provide two letters of reference from faculty/staff members of Ohio University to Madison Fry. Letters of reference should be sent directly from your reference to Mrs. Fry at frym@ohio.edu.</p> <p>Posting Number 20161522STD Job Description</p> <p>Student assistants will work with prospective students via tours, on/off-campus</p> <p>events (i.e., college fairs, high school visits, and community events). This employee</p> <p>will also assist in other student-serving areas as needed.</p> <p>Job Function</p> <p>Ohio University student employees are student leaders. Student employees are</p> <p>responsible for welcoming prospective students and guests to Ohio University as</p> <p>well as providing quality customer service to current students seeking assistance.</p> <p>Student employees in the Admission Department promote school spirit and a positive</p> <p>image of Ohio University through campus tours, recruitment events, and through</p> <p>communication with prospective students by phone, e-mail, and in-person.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <ul> <li>Work as a student leader in promoting Ohio University and providing accurate </li></ul> <p>information to potential new students and family members.</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the coordination of various outreach activities including, but not limited to, </li></ul> <p>open houses, workshops, resource fair, campus days, and welcome week.</p> <ul> <li>Visit local high schools for recruitment events. </li><li>Represent the university at various community outreach functions and events. </li><li>Communicate with prospective students via phone and email. </li><li>Conduct timely and effective follow-up with all prospective students. </li><li>Schedule and provide group and individual campus tours to university guests. </li><li>Assist students in admissions process. </li><li>Assist with New Student Orientation. </li><li>Assist with various on-campus events. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining knowledge of admissions deadlines and requirements. </li><li>Work productively and cooperatively with all members of the university community. </li><li>Attend and participate in all required training as assigned. </li><li>Work in the front office/lobby area as needed. </li><li>Assist with general office work as needed. </li><li>Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>MUST be a current Ohio University student</p> <p>Student should have a 3.0 GPA or greater at the time of hire & must maintain at least</p> <p>a 2.75 GPA to continue working in the Admissions department.</p> <p>MUST be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours per semester (exception summer</p> <p>semester)</p> <p>MUST be able to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment</p> <p>Have a valid driver's license and ability to travel</p> <p>The student must be able to work 10-20 hours per week, as needed, which may</p> <p>include evening and weekend on-campus and off-campus events.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Preferred: have attended Ohio University for at least one year.</p> <p>Additional Skills and Qualifications Needed to Perform Job</p> <p>Applicants should be prepared to become experts on Ohio University regional</p> <p>campus information including programs, and history.</p> <p>Have the ability to ask and answer questions clearly and to make prospective</p> <p>students feel comfortable is essential for the position.</p> <p>Strong communication skills (oral and written)</p> <p>Basic computer skills</p> <p>Experience of/or willingness to make presentations</p> <p>Ability to work autonomously without close supervision</p> <p>Strong organizational skills and time management skills</p> <p>Ability to work with the public</p> <p>Excellent customer service skills</p> <p>Able to follow office procedures and directions</p> <p>Able to keep all information about students and student issues confidential.</p> <p>Additional Skills and Qualifications Needed to Perform Job</p> <p>Applicants should be prepared to become experts on Ohio University regional</p> <p>campus information including programs, and history.</p> <p>Have the ability to ask and answer questions clearly and to make prospective</p> <p>students feel comfortable is essential for the position.</p> <p>Strong communication skills (oral and written)</p> <p>Basic computer skills</p> <p>Experience of/or willingness to make presentations</p> <p>Ability to work autonomously without close supervision</p> <p>Strong organizational skills and time management skills</p> <p>Ability to work with the public</p> <p>Excellent customer service skills</p> <p>Able to follow office procedures and directions</p> <p>Able to keep all information about students and student issues confidential.</p> <p>Department STHRN Administration and Registration Pay Rate</p> <p>$11.50 per hour</p> <p>Posting Open Date 09/12/2024 Posting End Date 06/30/2025 Job Category Student Hourly Planning Unit Regional Higher Education Work Schedule</p> <p>Various - Depending on the needs of the department.</p> <p>Campus Southern Applicants may contact this person if they have questions about this position.
