We are looking for a team-centric individual with strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and communications skills to make a difference in our community.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>This position, under the supervision of the Sustainability and Resiliency Manager, assists with the development, tracking, evaluation and implementation of the Environmental Leadership Action Plan (ELAP). Additionally, the position provides staff and administrative support to the Environmental Stewardship Committee, manages day to day activities for programs, meets with program management/staff from assigned areas, represents the County Manager's Office in internal and external stakeholder meetings and exercises independent discretion in decision-making which impacts the County's operations.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Assist with data collection, tracking, and analysis for the Environmental Leadership Action Plan. </li><li>Manage ELAP data sharing through annual report creation and digital dashboard management. </li><li>Compile reports on sustainability programs and provide feedback and suggestions on how existing programs can be improved. </li><li>Provide administrative support to committees and workgroups. </li><li>Prepare grant applications to fund environmental programs or program enhancements. </li><li>Design and implement process improvement projects and programs. </li><li>Create, maintain and update County sustainability websites. </li><li>Provide administrative and programmatic support to the County's internal environmentally </li></ul> <p>focused employee engagement program, known as WorkGreen.</p> <ul> <li>Create new educational materials and monitor the WorkGreen program for potential improvement. </li><li>Provide support for County department Green Teams. </li><li>Coordinate information and education resources for environmental programs with other departments, municipalities, outside agencies, groups, and businesses. </li><li>Keep up to date on current environmental best practices and legislation. </li><li>Lead enterprise-wide environmental leadership initiatives focused on efficient practices and multi-departmental teams. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Experience: Minimum of four years of environmental experience.</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's degree in an environmental or scientific field.</p> <p>Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted: Yes</p> <p>This position may require an assessment as part of the interview process.</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License </li><li>Requires County Driving Privileges </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Awareness/outreach related to sustainability activities </li><li>Working or volunteering with nonprofits </li><li>Working or volunteering with local, state or federal government </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <p>Knowledge of</p> <ul> <li>Government or non-profit structures and processes </li><li>Communication practices and processes </li><li>Ordinances and regulations pertaining to specific sustainability issues </li><li>Grant acquisition, approval, and implementation </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proven ability to effectively gather, organize and analyze complex datasets </li><li>Applying statistical analysis to environmental issues </li><li>Effective written and verbal communication, customer service, and public speaking </li><li>Skilled in the interpretation of best methodologies of delivery of environmental messaging to technical and non-technical persons </li></ul> <p>Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Time management: the ability to work independently from supervision while managing an extensive workload </li><li>Critical thinking by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems </li><li>Applied Learning: Assimilating and applying new job-related information in a timely manner </li><li>Building Partnerships: Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one's area and other areas, teams, departments, units or organizations to help achieve business goals </li><li>Business Acumen: Using economic, financial, market, and industry data to understand and improve business results; using one's understanding of major business functions, industry trends, and own organization's position to contribute to effective business strategies and tactics </li><li>Collaboration: Working effectively and cooperatively with others; establishing and maintaining good working relationships </li><li>Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the information provided </li></ul> <p>COMPUTER SKILLS</p> <p>Proficient in applicable computer programs, including full Microsoft Suite.</p> <p>Strong Excel skills (formulas, graphs, charts, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).</p> <p>REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS STATEMENT</p> <p>To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily.
