This, along with our remarkable culture of belonging, weekly devotionals, and endless opportunities for learning and growth-all situated within a beautiful and historic campus-make it hard to imagine a more inspiring place to work.</p> <p>Brigham Young University strongly prefers to hire faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Archival Processor</p> <p>Required documentation</p> <ul> <li>Please include a resume and cover letter when applying. </li></ul> <p>What you'll do in this position</p> <p>Arrangement and Preservation:</p> <p>Follow established processing plans developed by curators to organize, house, and arrange archival materials, identify preservation issues and other obstacles in processing projects.</p> <p>Finding Aids: Create descriptions of archival materials according to archival theory and national and departmental standards, perform subject analysis and agent creation in finding aids, and remediating description to prepare materials for digitization.</p> <p>Project management: Develop relationships with curators and other stakeholders, acting as project manager in archival processing and reprocessing workflows. Collaborate across multiple divisions to delegate, resolve issues, review work, and meet deadlines.</p> <p>Professional growth: At BYU, we value continuous learning. Engage actively with the archival field through attending conferences, participate in trainings, and stay informed of current archival trends.</p> <p>Mentorship and supervision: Hire, train and supervise students and staff members. Mentor students working toward careers in history, archives, and libraries.</p> <p>What qualifies you for this role</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>A firm commitment to the mission of BYU. </li><li>1-3 years full-time applied archival processing experience. </li><li>Proven interest in pursuing a career in the archives field. </li><li>Proficient knowledge of archival theory, arrangement, description, and preservation following national standards and best practices. </li><li>Proficient in knowledge and application of complex workflows and procedures in archival processing for all formats. </li><li>Proficient in historical research, writing and grammar, editing, attention to detail, and proofreading. </li><li>Proficient in communicating in writing, including concise summarization, creation of workflow and project guidelines, and interpretation of handwriting and penmanship styles. </li><li>Proficient in communicating verbally. </li><li>Demonstrated collegial and collaborative attitude when accepting and providing feedback. </li><li>Ability to assess and improve performance and productivity, set achievable goals, use time wisely, and communicate areas of weakness or inability to complete work to supervisor. </li><li>Willingness to accept supervision assignments and ability to plan and multi-task with multiple projects and student assignments. </li><li>Ability to embrace challenges, be adaptable and flexible, and willing to work outside of comfort zone. </li><li>Demonstrated collegial and collaborative attitude in the workplace. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. </li><li>Experience or familiarity with archival processing. </li><li>Experience or familiarity performing subject analysis on finding aids. </li><li>Project management experience in multiple areas of archival processing and types of projects. </li><li>Expertise in analyzing processing plans for appropriate scope, logical and efficient arrangement structure, and completion of pre-processing steps. </li><li>Proficiency in archival management and project management software, including familiarity with EAD mark-up language. </li></ul> <p>What we offer in return:</p> <p>This position comes with fantastic benefits, including:</p> <ul> <li> <p>401k.
